Last weekend I finished work on Saturday morning at 06:00 but instead of looking forward to a well earned sleep, I had the task of driving to Norwich to pick up a box of bits and a rolling chassis. To make matters worse, I could not leave until 09:30 as I had to drop my missus off at the hospital for a scan first. I toyed with the idea of an hours kip on the sofa but this never happened. Dropped her off and filled up with fuel. Stupidly I took the A12 and then A140 on my way there. This resulted in a journey that took nearly 3 hours due to road works and driving through villages etc. Once there I loaded up the parts and chassis and had a quick coffee and a chat. I was buying the bike from a friend and had not seen her in ages but I was too tired to stop for long. Drove back via M11 and M25. Did it in just under 2 hours. Lesson learned. I was so knackered I left it all in the car and went to bed. The next day I got up early and unloaded it all and put the rear seats back in the car. This was the first time I had really had a chance to inspect what I had. Long story short it all needs a ton of work. But these little bikes always do as they are ragged to shit by daft kids and maintenance is an after thought. This was part of the reason I decided to buy this bike. Even something with an mot that was being used would still need a full rebuild in my eyes and it would cost a lot more. I only paid £280 for my haul. Going to concentrate on the chassis first. Already ordered up some new parts and then I will strip and take a lot of it to the powder coaters. I should add that this is a project I am doing for my son. He turns 16 in January so I have just enough time. I gave him the option of a new Chinese scooter or this. Glad he chose well I will add some photos soon but included is a photo of what the bike looked like new.

Sadly no. Scan was for cancer. Waiting on results but indications are all is going to be ok.
I've already ordered a few parts. Only thing I'm going to struggle with is finding a secondhand fairing. New they are a fortune. Might have to buy the 125 fairing and make it fit. They are very similar in style and size. I can buy a race version of the aprilia RS125 fairing for less than £200. Still plenty of them about as they still race them in superteens. Rather find a good used RS50 one though. Either way I will paint it myself.
Will do a full engine rebuild. Arrow full exhaust and an 80cc kit with an uprated crank. Already has a larger carb. Chassis wise it is superior to my old TZR 250. Even has wider diameter wheels lol.
Sadly I have to build my new shed first. Laying the concrete base this weekend weather permitting.

Sorry to hear that Droog, fingers crossed. Forecast looks iffy for concreting.

Droog, the vast majority of scans confirm no cancer. I had one last year. The system works so that you rule out the worst possibilities first, which makes sense.

Hope the scans turn out good. Not fun.
Nice project.
My daughter has an RS125 we bought 3 rd hand. Had to rebuild the engine due to piston slop. The RS's from about 2007 have egr system that pumps exhaust back into the engine. Makes them wear out faster. Got rid of it, pattern cylinder that got a bit of work, vertex coated piston and an original FP exhaust that's half the weight of the cat version. Goes well.

The 125 engine has a RH side output shaft. The little 50's are very tuneable though. The plan is he wants a car at 17. I don't see him wanting to ride bikes once he has a car licence. I love two strokes and always enjoyed tuning them.

I've removed a few egr systems for people over the years. Popular mod on Chinese small capacity bikes and scooters.

Ah! didn't spot that. The 125 is the old Rotax 122/3 motor

I managed to get a few bits via eBay this week. Thankfully the dash/clocks are now secured for a good price. Also got front lights and a radiator. I must say, I purchased a few parts via Fowlers of Bristol. They were very well priced and arrived the next day! Very impressed. Also discovered that the RS125 fairing is the same as the 50 on this model. This will save me a fortune. Mind you due to the shit weather my garden is flooded. Be a few weeks before I can do that concrete base. Annoying as I just want to get stuck into the build.

Still collecting more parts. Done base for shed so some real updates with photos should be coming in a few weeks time. Hopefully have shed built by Next weekend. Purchased a bench drill, bench grinder, air compressor and a parts washer today for the build.
