It's nothing to look at tbh. Just a silver one. Only mods are Delkevic can, some small LED indicators and a tail tidy. It's completely plain and looks like any SV in the most part. The bottom yoke has some annoying surface corrosion on it but nothing sandpaper and a coat of laquer won't solve.
It does sound fucking good though. Sounds like it's got 150hp rather than 72 or whatever. May take a few days off at the end of the week or early next week and pull the front forks and brakes off it then it'll be sorted I think. Back end feels ok so I'll leave that alone. Will probably get YSS one stuck in over winter and maybe think about replacing the internals in the front as I do like this straight away and will probably keep it a bit.

They do sound tremendous with a can. The suspension is a bit budget but they're really light bikes with enough torque to have fun on without hitting speeds that will get you banned.

Typical mod here is a GSXR USD front end. Fron what I understand the yokes bolt straight in. Might be worth looking into?

Seems like the ultimate frankenbike platform given how popular it was. Time to bring back this

Had more of a blat this afternoon. Brakes are garbage and will probably need a bleed and new pads at the minimum. Previous owners gentle 300 miles a year has probably glazed them over too much. Tyres are Pirelli Angels. They seemed to 'fall' in a bit but I never checked the pressures and they were about 8-10 psi down so hopefully air will sort them.
Handling is a bit imprecise compared to the KTM but underinflated tyres were probably part of the problem. Will see tomorrow if it goes better but I think the rebound is a bit shit or something. There's plenty of mods you can do with emulators or whatever but I'll leave that until winter. I'll just ride round problems for the moment.
The engine is a corker though, just take it up to 7k and change up. If KTM made a RC650 twin or something it would be a real weapon. Not sure why they only have the RC125/390 as fully faired bikes.

Fully faired bikes are not the future. Ask Triumph.

Fully faired bikes are not the future. Ask Triumph. They're bloody well the future for me; I'm 6' 2" and I need all the wind and weather protection that I can get

There is a thread on a Spanish forum I browse sometimes complaining about the used prices of sports bikes like the R6, GSXR750 etc.
It is true that a 15 year old midrange sports bike which you could have sold 5 years ago here for about 2,500€ today are up for closer to 4,000€. I sold my GSXR750Y in 2013 for 1850€, today people are asking 3,000€.
It seems like madness, but if you look at the new alternatives you are stuck with "mixed use" bikes like the CB(R)650 or worse in the middle range or massive cash outlays for a 1000R, upwards of 20k€.
The manufacturers have decided that there is no market for 600 / 760Rs so the track fun is for budget lightweights a la KTM or for posh twats with 20k to spend and no fear of a 5k bill for an excursion into the gravel.
That or buy second hand and pay the market rate.

One day I will have to change the K5 for something newer, but from 2006 onwards, the 750 are physically too small for me. I want to stick with race replicas for as long as my body will let me, because I enjoy them, so it'll have to be a thou of some description.

For about 20 years the cost of a new litre sports bike was £9k with only the occasional SP model costing a couple of £k more. That's ballooned over the last decade with a Fireblade now starting at £20k. That has got to drag the used prices up too.

I'm the same but I don't think my next bike will be a sports bike. It's not the crouch that kills me it's folding up my legs. Any more than an hour and I'm greetin' like a wean.

I think the effect of the 1000R new prices is dragging up the value of used 1000R bikes yes, but the total lack of new 6R and 750s is exagerating that in those used sectors. Over here on the plain at least.

I'm a sporty fan too, have been for many years and not ready to go comfy yet either. I'm really happy with my K5, but it will blow up or I will crash it sooner or later I suppose. I'd be very happy with a 750 L? (the last models of the GSXR750 sold in Europe, but they go for big bucks and are full of delicate electronics. I always wanted a Triumph 675R too, but they are really expensive over here. Shame Brexit has made importing from the UK even tougher really.

I love the torque of a litre bike but don't need 200hp. I love the lightness and flickability of a sports bike but dislike high pegs. I'm not ready for an upright seating position as it just feels wrong in corners.
Maybe a big triple would be worth a shout.

I've sat on a few 675Rs and there is no way that I could ever ride one... far too small. If Triumph made an 1100R or a 1200R, I'd all over it!
