The first two are good choices. Not too sure about the third? I like the little Suzuki and you could always fit a DRZ 400 motor in it. I know the 350 is air cooled but it wouldn't take a lot of work to fit a rad. There are plenty of tuning parts for those engines.

Well Droog, went for the NC31 at £1100. I know it will be solid as they get from that era of Honda (94) and the guy selling it had a Porsche in the drive so it probably won't be a shitter. It's got a Yoshi on it already and if I'm determined to go cafe style I'll save some pennies over winter and get the subframe done properly and get a retro paint job done by a paintshop, not rattle can.
I am a biker again. Feels good man.

Picking it up on Friday....only to immediately go on Holiday for few days. Arrrggghh... Oh well waited 8 years, sure a few days more won't hurt.
Fucking bike gear has gone up in price since I last looked. Well brand name stuff has anyway. The bottom end seems full of brands I've never heard of. Need to see if I've got anything left in a suitcase in the loft. Pretty sure I sold my 2 sets of leathers. May get a flip front lid this time though.
Lovely RS250 on ebay the moment. God knows how much it'll sell for.

More thread hijacking Droog but my purchase did not go well.
Bike wouldn't start when I got there. Trying to fire but nothing. Guy says it was ok an hour before. Anyway, left it at that and he contacts me this morning saying he'd had the spark plugs out and there's no spark. I can have the bike for £650 as is.
What do you reckon? Buy or not worth the potential black magic of trying to get it firing?

If you like it and the rest of it is in good condition make him a silly bid. Don't take the piss but want a big discount and mutter that you are taking a risk on it but if price is right you will buy it.
Fault finding is a case of being methodical, sensible and checking online for likely causes.

He's messaged me just now, it's firing up again! Price will probably go up again as it's more likely to be bad wiring rather than failed components.

Cunt stiffed me. Went no contact on me, so I cancelled the insurance and won't be getting that one.
Bike supply on ebay has now all but dried up. Looking at a boring zr7s tomorrow for £1000. Seems quite viable for a cafe conversion looking at what others have done. Also looking at a Bandit.

Don't buy a Bandit. In my opinion Bandit owners/riders are a joke. You will be buying streetfighter magazine next and spraying a knackered 30 year old simpson helmet matt black.

And wearing camo jackets whilst trying to wheelie every 5m?
Saw the zr7s tonight. Ok for it's age I guess. I can see it's attraction even though it's sort of bland. You don't feel the need to be a cunt on it and could just ride for riding's sake. It would get me back into it without getting nicked I reckon.
How's your build coming? You ever done any welding? Was thinking perhaps I need a cheap arc welder if I was to chop the arse off this bike at some point?

Waiting on a few parts to move forward. Should have a few photos to update by end of the month. If you go the cheap welder route, get an arc welder not a mig. £150 will get you a basic arc that isn't a toy. You won't get a good value mig for less than £280. Anything cheaper will be a pain in the arse leaving you wishing you hadn't bothered.

Well Droog, gone totally leftfield and ended up with......
1997 VFR750 with full service history, newish tyres, chain, sprocket, service and givi luggage for £1300. Sounds sweet. Will do 150 and 60 in 3s. Not exactly the cafe racer I was going to chop up but the lure of 90s Honda gear is strong. Pick it up on Tuesday.

Lol...didn’t see that one coming !!!!....I used to own one when I was living in Scotland early ‘00’s....red, 1997 model. Great bike, great engine that V4. Probably the best 4 stroke engine Honda made, along with the Blackbird engine....imho. what plans have you got for it ?
