Bullseye was as brilliant as it was shite. A real conundrum. You usually ended up hating yourself for loving it. Couldn't win.

Some of the soaps of the era were atrocious. I had a friend whose mother religiously watched Crossroads and her household were banned from answering the phone whilst she was watching it.
Noel Gordon won the TV Times personality of the year on eight occasions for a soap in which the scenery seemed to move faster than the actors.
