Imagine trying to pitch On The Buses nowadays. I don't mean the politically correct aspect. It's just shit. Two old blokes in their late 40's or early 50's pretending to be 30 who are always letching after young ladies whilst trying to avoid doing their job properly. Here's an excerpt from the showreel of a shit at his job 50-something womaniser.

Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em.
Undoubtedly funny then, but the thought of a comedy about a special needs person now feels very strange.

Sweeney still stands up, I've got the complete series and it's mostly good. There's the odd filler but it's pretty straight down the line. The Professionals was a bit dramatic and sixth form play at times.
I always fucking hated Cannon and Ball. Cunts. I also hated anything with Keith Barren in.

Isn't the Big Bang Theory centered around an aespergers or autistic guy? That seems to be acceptable even in the US. That's the good thing about comedy, if it's done right, anythings fair game.

I don't know. I thought they were all geeks. Or have I been whooshed? Never watched much though. Fair enough but not easy.

The Sweeney was class and still stands up today. John Thaw was brilliant at playing Jack Regan and it was gritty as fuck for the time. And sometimes the bad guy got away which was unheard of in those days. It's brilliant to watch now, particularly for the old cars and the occasional pair of thruppeny bits but by far the best thing about The Sweeney was that you can sing the show's title repeatedly along to the theme tune.
The Professionals was ITVs flagship programme in the late 70s. We'd promise all sorts to be allowed to stay up to watch it and any cunt in school the next day who hadn't seen it was ridiculed mercilessly. We loved it. Watch it now and it is beyond pish. Awful, wooden acting, shite dialogue and storylines makes you wonder just what we saw in it.
Dad's Army deserves a special mention. Arthur Lowe was one of the finest comedy actors this country ever produced and his performances in that show are timeless.
Porridge was another show that stands the test of time. Definitely Ronnie Barker's finest hour. I watched an episode recently at 3 in the morning and was surprised to find it preceded by a warning for language. I was confused as this show was on in the early evening when I was wee. Thankfully the warning was only for disappointing racism and nobody said fuck or cunt.
The 70s eh? 😂

Well whoever came up with it was not wired up correctly. My childhood primary school memories are virtually non existent now, but that programme is ingrained into my brain.

I always hated why don't you as well. Fake fucking acting kids pretending to be normal. Fuck off tarquin.
What the fuck was going on with Emu and the Pink Windmill. Proper lbgtq+ stuff there. Gay robots and crocodiles that got abused by an overweight witch obsessed with stealing an emu and an old bloke that lived with loads of kids. Fucks sake.

The problem with kids is that they're really shite at acting and presenting TV shows. That sort of thing was, sadly, best left to the paedos in the 70s. They knew what kids really wanted to see...
