Restrictions in NL lifted as of today, well most of them. For some reason all shops, gyms, hairdressers etc can open but not restaurants or bars. But lots of restaurant and bar owners are opening regardless, so what's the point!

I saw a colleague, 40ish, last week and he said a few days after being boosted he tested positive on crimbo day. Sounds like it was old school covid as he lost his taste and smell senses. Taste is returning but not smell yet.
Moral of the story: get jabbed and boosted.

Well, that was a "New Year" to forget as everyone in my house tested positive for COVID-19 between 4th & 7th Jan, with Sunday being the first day any of us were allowed to leave the house. Apart from that, both of my boys (8 and 11 years old) had what I would call "sniffles"! I had a "heavy cold" for the best part of a week, but my wife had what can only be described as flu which left her bed ridden for about 4 or 5 days once the symptoms kicked in. My boys are now fine, but myself and my wife are suffering from fatigue and "brain fog", which has made going back to work interesting! My biggest concern was for my youngest because he has allergy induced asthma and required his inhibitor inhaler more than usual; he normally has a preventer twice daily (morning and evening), then an inhibitor when required. The use of the latter increased from a couple of times a week to at least twice a day.
Hopefully, because we weren't hit too badly, the brain fog and fatigue won't last too long, but anyone that says that this is no worse than a cold, can do one as far as I'm concerned. I've never felt like this after a cold and the flu, and I mean proper flu, is nasty at the best of times; I stopped saying that "I had a touch of flu over the weekend" type of statements about 25 years ago after I actually had it once.
I would say that we fell into the "most people will only experience mild symptoms, if any" category, which has been the message right from the very beginning of the pandemic; the unlucky will be hospitalised and the unfortunate won't make it.

My 18yr old nephew had it but didn’t know he had it until he tested after a mate told him he’d got it….no symptoms at all, and my sister ..his Mum…didn’t get it at all despite living in the same house.

My twins got it before Christmas as did my partner and her 2 kids. All except my son who has a problem with needles were double vaxx'd. Despite 5 very close contacts I didn't get it and was still waiting for the booster at the time. What was interesting/scarey is my daughter. She tends to be a bit sinusy and has mild asthma. She ened up in casualty with breathing difficulties. I shudder to think what would have happened if she had been un-vaxxed. Her un-vaccinated brother just had sniffles and a mild temperature for half a day. That's the thing with Covid, the real danger is how your own immune system reacts to it and there is no predictor of that, which is why everyone should be vaccinated.

My wife and my section director had similar "flu" symptoms; both are now fine! I, on the otherhand, had a "heavy cold" and I'm still suffering brain fog and fatigue! I read somewhere, and it could have been on here, that researchers have found a genetic marker which could indicate a predisposition to more severe symptoms or long term effects. How is your daughter now?

Cheers, she's good. The stress of breathing issues can exacerbate it. They gave her a muscle relaxant and she was out of hospital in a couple of hours. Thankfully non of us had any long term issues. Hope it works out ok for you.

Hope you cunts are OK. Never nice when your child is hospitalised. I'll second that. We've been really lucky so far and had a Covid free winter, but seeing your kids affected must be terrible. I've heard that Boris will end Covid next week though, which is nice.

Hope you cunts are OK. Never nice when your child is hospitalised. A guy at work had to take his 2 month old into hospital last night as he was suffering from breathing difficulties. Could be COVID, could be chest infection!

What a fucking farce in Westminster.
Events as I understand them:
Reports surface of multiple lockdown parties in Downing St.
Police stumble over ridiculous reasons not to investigate, these include that they don't investigate historic crimes (despite all reported crimes having already fucking happened) and that there was no evidence (despite the actual fucking Police guarding the place 24/7). Also, I'm fairly sure that it's their job to look for evidence before declaring that there's none.
Johnson then announces an investigation to find out if there were parties in his house and if he attended any of them. Cannot comment until the investigation is complete of course.
Investigation interviews police that were guarding No 10 and reportedly receive damning evidence.
Investigation then reports back to the police with the evidence that they got from the fucking police.
Police then launch an investigation on the basis of the new evidence provided by the fucking police. Cannot comment until the police investigation is complete.
The whole fucking cuntry is being played by these pricks and Cressida fucking Dick is central to the game. What a fucking charade.
