I can highly recommend 'Sometimes Always Never' with Bill Nighy; a British comedy drama with very dry humour and a emotional subject at it's centre (or is it center... I can never remember)... oh and Scrabble.

Watched The Gentlemen last night. Outstanding movie. A real return to form for Guy Ritchie and a tremendous performance from Hugh Grant as a blackmailing east end hit man. Grant's perfect delivery of "sit dahn you facking cahnt" has to be seen to be believed. Next step Royal Shakespeare I'd imagine.

Right come on, own up - whats your guilty pleasure film you should not be admitting to?
I was on a long haul flight recently and wanted an easy watch so I went for Notting Hill. Sat there chuckling to myself the entire way through, loved it. Rhys Ifans character is brilliant.
I've also found that Pixar films are good for fine tuning modern TV's - I stuck Wall-e on day with the sole purpose to get my new TV set how I wanted it, 20mins later I'm engrossed in the movie and watched it right through.

I generally try to avoid any film with Hugh Grant in it.. And I would ordinarily agree with this. He's barely recognisable in this movie.

Under the Skin with Scarlett Johansson, and one Jeremy McWilliams, is without doubt the weirdest film that I've seen in years... did I mention that it had Jeremy McWilliams in it? Yes, that Jeremy McWilliams, him of MotoGP fame!

Bizarre film. I did watch it twice so it must have something.

A topless and occasionally naked Johansson helped me get through it

Guilty pleasure would be: Phantom of the Paradise. Actually I've no guilt at all about that it's excellent.

Had it on VHS, DVD, French import blu ray then UK steel book as well the soundtrack on CD. I've even got the Dr. Sapirstein fan edit with bits they removed. Everyone should see this film. And listen to the Juicy Fruits.

I used to use it as a barometer years ago. If you thought it was shit, I knew you wasn't my type of person.

I remember years ago from online dating days some bird I was talking to was supposedly well into a broad range of music and films and I forwarded her some of the tunes from the film. She said she 'didn't get it'. And she didn't get it. Good barometer indeed.
Pity you'll never see a film like that get from a big studio now.
