Just cycled up the hill after a yoga session on my 21 year old Trek Y-22, does that count? Since doing my leg in Ive been more out on the bike, used to be a mtb nut back in the day. Yes. Are you fully recovered yet?

Getting there. Did some zwift last night and did 1700ft in 45 mins. Easier than in real life though even though I've got it on 100% gradient match. It's good for just plain old pacing though. My ability to hold a certain amount of power over set times has got better.

Are you fully recovered yet? Yeah, pretty much. Been doing a lot of snowboarding this winter. Get a bit of pain if I over do it and jump on hard landings. I would say I'm at 97%. Worked really hard with cycling, yoga, physio, snow and skateboarding. Doctor who did the op and my pysiotherapist are impressed, most people don't do much for a year. I was on a bike 3weeks after :-)

I've got an interesting couple of weeks coming up.
My cycling chum talked me into another 100 miler. The thing is, there are roadworks bollocksing up my commute for the next 10 days so the form is going to dip. Hopefully I'll get out next weekend. The ride is about 8 miles away, so I'll end up doing nearer 120.
I can see some illness coming too. I've been trying to trim down further lately and have noticed a loosening HRM strap, which is good from that angle but in the past has indicated a few weeks fatigue requiring extra eating to recover.
I'm going to try and introduce more veggie and vegan food and minimize dairy products.

Did the virtual Alp D'Huez on Zwift. Jesus that was some slog. I'd be on the 32 cog for most of that irl. Think I lost a stone in sweat as it was the most work I've ever done on a turbo.

I appear to be quite fit. Doing 2-3 commutes a week since April when possible has been great. Today I chose a mixed route with some rarely been up hills. Happy with the average overall mph and shocked to what I took off the climb times.
Fucking front mech sounds awful though.

Had an interesting summer period of Strava PR golds. The secret was dropping cadence and bike computer and almost taking it easy. My power meter was playing up so I started riding blind and spinning less but when i got home I noticed my avg speed had gone up.
Apparently some sports science types think spinning is only really useful on hills and maybe they're right?
Anyway just bought a direct drive turbo trainer. Getting to the time of year where i can't be bothered with the real world and Zwift of my home town of Harrogate is pn the cards.

WEnt to put turbo together and one of the legs was missing! They 'supposed' they had to give me my money back. FUCK YOU!!!!
Now can't find anything as good for the money. Cunts.

That'll teach you not to go for rollers.
That spinning up hills reference. Must be right. I recently had a spin up my 'on the way to work' hill and despite hanging on for the last 50m, I hit a PB.

It was just something I read saying that maybe one cadence doesn't suit all. I'd be at 90rpm at all speeds even like 10mph just rolling along. Got a point one day where it just 'felt' wrong so I just went for the same felling of tension in my legs and forgot about the cadence and only really kept that for steep hills.
I did notice it's less of a cardio hit doing less spinning but the downside is suppoedly you can't keep your legs as fresh if you're doing a long one as it's like doing a few heavy reps vs loads of light ones.
Going to buy an Elite Direto instead now as ebay have 10% off and that takes it to £500. Simulates 14% gradient. Still Halfords though but I'll opening the box this time before I leave the shop.

I've just decided that I need to go back to regular exercise after a year and a bit of making excuses about why I wasn't going swimming any more, and finally admitting that it was because it's fucking boring and that I just can't be arsed.
So I've been going out for bike rides for the past few weeks and I have discovered that I genuinely look forward to my evening bike rides during the day (something that never really happened with swimming).
Now, I want to start taking it a bit more seriously and try to monitor a bit of what I'm doing with a view to optimising the benefits. I have never had a smartwatch or any other type of fitness computer, and TBH I don't want to spend a lot of cash, but what would you guys suggest as a simple aid to perhaps give me feedback on distance, average speed elevation gains etc.
Any pointers welcome!

Nice one Diego the toe clipper. I'm possibly at my most happiest when out on my bike so what you say surprises me not at all. If you have a smartphone, there are plenty of apps with gps connection for what you want. If you chose strava you can join the banzai group. I don't know if the app eats data, so you might want to trial it first.

Data is no issue for me, I've got 2 SIMS in my phone with about 15GB a month between them and I never get close to using it all....

I hope to get back into off road cycling this summer (do you call it mountain biking as well?). I've dropped some weight and joined a gym that I will start visiting as soon as the New Years resolution set give up (Feb. 1st). Our roads are full of beer-swilling tourists and people looking at their phone so no desire to bicycle on the road!

Current work scenario means I'm out and about a lot so difficult to maintain any kind of fitness regime. I try to get a hotel with a gym/pool when I can but you're still eating hotel dinners. I don't have the fucking willpower to choose salad over steak or water over wine when some other cunt's paying the bill.
