Top comment on FB HIGNFY:
Typical English, you meet the Swedes and spend the next week trying to fix the cabinet.

Even though I love my footy and I'm loving the general mood and optimism around England at the moment, I do think we're getting ahead of ourselves with the constant 'its coming home' references...Croatia are a good side and IF we beat them, we'll have to beat arguably the best side in the tournament.
However, the team have exceeded my expectations and they can come home with their heads held high regardless of tomorrow nights result.
I just hope the gutter press feel the same way...

You know what, i'm not even disappointed with that because I didn't think they had a chance to win it, unlike Italia 90 and the other tournaments.
I just couldn't see Sterling & Henderson as World Champions, but anyway well done to them for getting this far.
Edited to add that the tournament was so much better once the South American break dancers were gone.

Read somewhere the entire team have donated their earnings from the World Cup to charity. Nice touch if true.

Well I'm fucking well hacked off. This was the best chance we'll ever have I believe. As Gary Neville said, it opened up for us like never before. Last night, the team to the man were wankers. They under-performed compared to previous games. Those countries that all bottled it will not collectively bottle it again. I'm gonna die without seeing a world cup lifted. Useless cunts.

England performed much better than I expected. Credit to Gareth Southgate for the way he dealt with everything.
Croatia won all their group games, went a goal down and went to extra time in each KO game so far, so wasnt that surprised they beat England. Skill and resilience.

Edited to add that the tournament was so much better once the South American break dancers were gone. Ha ha, I agree. Add Portugal to the list too with Ronaldo. He may be talented but what a cheating wanker. This made me laugh. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44807281

My prediction was correct but I didn’t have the conviction to actually place a bet. To be fair though the 1st two French goals were dodgy to say the least. Croatia were the better football team but France had the fire power. Great final, excellent World Cup.

For a country 4 million in size, a domestic scene in tatters with corruption etc the possibility of Modric going to jail, Croatia have been stunning. Their players might all (bar 2) play outside Croatia, but with just 5 football pitches up to UEFA international standard within Croatia how do they do it? www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44833318

As a nation they are fairly driven and sporty. I used to work with a girl whose from near split. She did her version of A-levels during the war, dodging snipers on way to & from School. Did a chemistry degree in Finland with no support as parents were still in Croatia, learning Finnish at same time (apparently a really difficult language, like Russian), she followed that up with a masters. Does triathlons for fun. Also she's 6"2 and an absolute babe, you wouldn't mess with that lady and and I get the feeling that she's not untypical.
