I'm enjoying these lesser teams taking it to the big uns but really pissed off by the blatant cheating.
Quite liking Morocco, Iran & Tunisia bringing back the physical stuff and ruffling a few ego's, not liking the "i've been shot" play acting and diving for pens & free kicks its spoiling the show.
I reckon VAR will be good, hopefully it will stop the pens given for ordinary contact in the box, but its going to take some going to eradicate everything bad in the game.
Belgium & Uruguay look good at the moment.

To be fair, Gareth Southgate has kept it low key, semi disguised disgust of the media frenzy since England beat the mighty Panama when he poo pooed talk of venue for semi final. There's been no outstanding teams so far, Brazil haven't impressed me, nor Spain or Argentina. I'm going with France. Germany were pish. Don't mention the VAR |

I fancied Belgium as an outside shout before a ball was kicked. Pants is correct though. There's no outstanding team so far. It will likely be a European winner and England have as much chance as anyone.

On the other hand, I've just got in from a night on the beer and found myself extolling the virtues of Southgate... Its been a long time since I had a good word to say about an England manager.

Its been dramatic in places, Argentina scoring at the end to go through when they wouldn't have qualified.
As others have said, no clear outstanding teams really and I quite fancy Belgium or Uruguay to progress. Belgium averaging 3 goals per game Uruguay have kept 3 clean sheets. They could meet in the final.
The most irritating thing for me is the ref lecturing defenders in the box not to push/hold players at corners and free kicks then doing nothing when they do. Award a few penalties and that would stop that. Players only cheat when they get away with it.

Coming up on the blind side Croatia have looked good too. Don't know if they have the bottle to win it but i'm hoping it's one of the so called lesser teams than win it. I don't want any of the drama queens to progress further. Neymar and Ronaldo are the worst offenders. VAR makes them look cunts.
Lukaku gets my fairness award when he was one on one with the keeper and went down but held up his hand and said no contact. One of the previously mentioned cunts wouldn't have done that. Fair play to the big man.

I'm currently a shocking 19907th in the Telegraph's Fantasy Football competition, mainly because I know little about football, didnt do enough research and picked a load of Krauts early on. In the KO round I've picked 5 Croatians for their game against Denmark as I think they will keep a clean sheet and score a couple. I picked Ronaldo for 1 game, but it didnt feel right, cheating wanker. It took him 3 minutes to fall over in the box in his 1st game to get a penalty. |
