From the BBC news they have said that the Russians are warning Ukrainians to get away from key buildings in Kyiv as they are going to bomb the fuck out of them.
All this to protect Russians in Ukraine. There must still be 1000s of Russian born citizens still in Kyiv.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-60558731Sanctions are biting. I think its our best hope of getting Putin out, although he probably doesnt care about his public. Seems you can get € & $ out of Russian ATMs*. I wonder how long their supply will last? Will $ become the unofficial currency of Russia? * Fact checked for Mekon on Lonely Planet.

It's accepted as fact that Russia meddled in the 2016 American elections and the Brexit referendum. The result was a clown in the White House that weakened America Internationally and a weakened Europe. There are also millions of dirty Russian £ swilling round the Tory party which further weakens the UK.
It could be reasonably deduced that Putin has been planning this for years. Buying elections that fundamentally impact on global opposition to his plans. What are his plans though? Do they end with Ukraine or does he have his eye on the few remaining non-NATO countries in the region?
On a personal level, I hope this gets nipped in the bud before Kyiv is trashed. It's one of my favourite cities anywhere. I managed to contact one of my friends from Kyiv. Fortunately she is safely out of Ukraine but is naturally worried for her friends and family. It's utterly brutal.

My Tesco petrol station was empty yesterday as people had topped up before petrol prises go up. I'm on a 2 year fixed price electric & gas deal until 2023, I was lucky there. But my direct debit is going up from next month as the company cant afford for its customers to be in debt over the winter and catch up in the summer like usual. Trivial compared to whats happening in the Ukraine. Hopefully the war wont spread and be resolved shortly but I'm not confident of that.

Lack of semi-conductors/chips and everything comes to a halt. But do we do too much trade for them to start kicking off with the West?

Shit situation all round but I agree that the West, and the US in particular, have taken their eyes off the ball since 2014. The Pentagon knew in 2019 that increasing military aid to Ukraine could result in Putin doing exactly what he is now doing....so why the surprise?
At least Joe is on the ball though..
I'm sure Iranians will be happy to know that Putin won't win their hearts and minds! ;-)

Its not just Tories either. No but they're in power so they're really the only bribed entity that matters. Our whole political system is far too open to "external influence" from shady political donations to highly paid second jobs. It won't change because the people with the power to change it are benefitting financially. There is dirty Russian money swilling all around UK and US politics and we're now seeing Putin cashing in on his years of investment. Now is the time to put pressure on BlowJob to release the Russia report that he suppressed and for a proper investigation into political funding of all parties in the UK. It won't happen though. Our system is fundamentally corrupt and Putin has exploited that.

They had a vote at the UN General Assembly yesterday. Whether to condemn Russia and call for their immediate withdrawal. 141 of the 193 member states voted for the resolution, 35 abstained, and five voted against. Abstaining, or sitting on the fence, included India. Is India moving to a larger Asian block, Russia-China-India? Seems India has always been friendly with Russia in the past. Most be a bit worrying for a very large number of UKs financial institutions (and I guess others) who have moved a lot of IT development, IT support, business processing work to India. And when I mean a lot, I mean a LOT. I always thought they were moving too much to India, losing so much of UKs staffs knowledge and experience. I guess thats the same with a lot of industry these days, we have moved it out of the UK for lower costs. www.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/02/united-nations-russia-ukraine-vote

Now he is sending in tanks against nuclear power stations. I hope those fires arent near the reactors and just buildings away from them. Its only 120 miles from Donetsk which is one city he is 'liberating'. He gives zero shits about anybody in that area, even Russians.
