Well the fairing arrived from China. Only unwrapped the mudguard from the box. Paint finish seems pretty good. Certainly a level beyond rattlecans or some jobs with a compressor. The problem is the shade is slightly off. Not night and day off but still off. There's nothing wrong with the tail end plastics so I'm not sure to replace just the front fairing or replace everything and only have the fuel tank look a bit off.
It will still look better than road rash I guess. My chinese stator cover also arrived and the Yoshi is repacked and has a decibel kill in it. Luckily the road rash on the Yoshi was only really on rivet head and some of the banding. Still not decided on flush or standard indicators and also whether to put foldable levers in. If I can find the time this weekend I will do fluids, filters, plugs and stator cover. Then it's basically just fairing.

Chinese stator covers can be OK, but you'll probably need to sand the mating surface on a flat surface with emery paper to ensure a good seal.

The one I got for the KTM was sound. This one even came with a gasket with sealant ready done. Worse case scenario will be covered as I'll recondition the original while it's off the bike. It just looked shit as it had been down the road at some point and picked up a few scrapes. I just thought I may as well get a completely clean looking one to match the new fairing. Mostly undecided about levers and also annoyed the blue anodising on the fork preload adjusters comes off so easily even if you wrap them in masking tape. Oh well. It's a 20 year old bike, can't be perfect. I perhaps should have also used a layer of filler primer over the etch primer as you can see some uneven surfaces under the new fork leg paint but unless you are really looking it's not obvious. Still looks better than forks with a bubbling surface.

Hmmm...Changed plugs and air filter today. The air filter was the dirtiest I have ever seen. It must never have been done. I've seen cleaner ones ones on cars that have gone more miles.
Spark plugs were on the blacker side of brown as well. Hopefully new filter will mean clean burn.
Throttle cables needed sorting as well as the throttle wasn't shutting on release. Not sure how that happened but I took cables off lubed the cases and tensioned up again and they are ok now.
Resprayed the top yoke as well. A lot of paint had worn off. Gave a go with Tough Black. Not quite as pro looking as the original but it won't wear away either. Looks good enough though.

The Yoshi has been reduced from 106gb to 89db with new packing and a db killer. That's almost standard noise level. Have to test it with the db killer out. At least it's track legal now.
Final bit of tough blacking going on the upper fairing/screen/clocks bracket and I'l start to put it back together. I just hope the Chinese fairing goes on without too much fucking about and swearing.
Then it's time to drag the SV out and do the swingarm bearings, which I'm not looking forward to. Need to though as I plan on selling it.

Just bought a 1986 RD350LC YPVS partially restored but in boxes ready for further restoration and assembly. My dream bike at 59bhp and very low weight. I'll never have any money just nice bikes.

I once rode this 350lc that this local teararse used to ride in mid to late 90s. He was proper quick on it and raced I seemed to remember. He'd surprise a lot of people on it and he let me ride it and I thought it was an utter piece of shit! It was mind bending he was that quick on it.
This said he did come out on slicks once.

Nice bike. After a serious bike accident in 1986 my first foray back was on one of these. I hired it in Australia and rode it up the Gold Coast in Queensland. It was an eventful trip which warrants it's own story.

I had an RD400 when I was 18. What I didn't have was road tax, insurance, an MOT or a full licence. Found out the hard way that it only did 20mpg when I ran out of juice on the M74. An utter nazi of a traffic polis rocked up and sent me traipsing over 2 fields and 3 barbed wire fences with a Jerry can. When I got back it was "into the van sonny" where I got a monstrous bollocking. By chance, I had the log book in my pocket with the details of a previous owner which I memorised on the way to the petrol station. I gave the cunt the fake details. As he hadn't actually seen me riding it, there wasn't much he could do so he fucked off leaving me with a warning to get the bike recovered and not to ride it. He then rocked up at Bothwell services where my mate was waiting for me, walked up to him and said "I'll just wait here for your pal to go past and then he's mine." Fortunately I couldn't get it started and he got bored and fucked off again.
Close one and, lesson learned, I got it to fuck soon after.

Excuse the messy garage. Need to get on top of it. Levers and brake guards to do as original lever is too long
