Wonder how dedicated Redding will be now he's signed for BMW. Also wonder if he be as corporate in interviews as Sykes and name check the BMW RR1000 blah blah blah (insert latest model number here)

Wonder how dedicated Redding will be now he's signed for BMW. Also wonder if he be as corporate in interviews as Sykes and name check the BMW RR1000 blah blah blah (insert latest model number here) I think Redding will still give it 100%. If its going well, he will be happy, but expect if its not then a few more grumbles will come out. I still think its a bit odd him leaving Ducati TBH. In his announcement he said BMW 'were the first manufacturer that really wanted me to sign for them in WorldSBK'. Was that because Ducati didnt want him to resign, or were slack about it thinking he would resign, BMW were the first to wave some money, Ducati were holding out on the wage as Redding was 3rd in the championship. Makes next year more interesting in a way, but as JT just said Rea must be happy as Redding on a Ducati is a bigger threat than Redding on a BMW. Just depends who is Redding's replacement. www.worldsbk.com/en/news/2021/Redding+to+switch+to+BMW+for+2022+WorldSBK+campaign

JT said that as Ducati havent won the championship for 10 years, Redding doesnt look to have the potential for beating Rea, Ducati might want someone else on their bike. Fair enough really. Bautista was looking good for the title before he lost it. Petrucci has talent. Maybe they want 1 of those 2.

The track looks a bit stop-start in a lot of places, but then there's a few fast corners out the back, plus that "bollocks in your mouth" Turn 1; 6th gear turn in!

JT in no doubt why Redding is leaving. Winning races one weekend, not the next, then complaining the team isnt going in the direction he wants them to isnt the way to do it with Ducati. He thought Redding was too highly strung. JT said in 2004 on the Wednesday before the last round Ducati told him if he didnt win the title then he wouldnt be riding for them in 2005. They didnt bounce Laconi off as he had already signed. They had also booked Laconi on the plane to USA for the celebrations over there as they thought he would be champion iirc as well. Funny old game that.

FP1. Close between the top 3, just 0.164s between them. Rea, Razgatioglu, Redding. Relishing Rubbins Racing Repeat.

Ducati play the Enzo ferrari game but with shit results. Then again Ferrari has had massively shit periods as well.

Toprac, Redding Rinaldi in FP2. Rea dropping 0.5s off the pace. It was slower as it was hotter. Gerloff picked T4 to have a high speed crash over the bumps.
JT made an odd comment about saying he couldn't believe Vinales had lost his Yamaha ride, after spending most of FP1 & 2 talking about Redding's Ducati departure due to criticising the team and not getting the desired results.

Wonder how dedicated Redding will be now he's signed for BMW. Fully. He'll thrash the fuck out of anything.

Not sure JT isn't just in guessing game mode. Is the Ducati as good as they think it is? Maybe? It amazing in 2019 for a bit but it's not had an single rider take to it track after track since.
I just think it's odd they are writing off the BMW as if they are trying to get the 2012 version to work still. Once minute JT was going on about how well was Sykes was doing on it and then saying it's a bad move for Redding who is better than Sykes.

Bautista’s “return to Ducati with his tail between the legs” is a bit strange. It ended badly with Ducati accusing him of leaving over money, Bautista said that wasn’t the case. So they’ve obviously forgiven each other, although I’ve read that AB had to reduce his salary demands to get back on the Duke….not surprising, his stock will have dropped since he went to Honda but I still think he is good enough to fight for the title on the V4. Not sure about Redding on the BMW, was it an offer he couldn’t refuse?….can he lift the BMW to regular podium level?….I’m not sure.

I was wondering where else Redding have gone. Toprac is staying put and Locatelli must be cheaper and is showing decent form now, looks a regular podium visitor and 1st in FP3. Denning possibly has a no stupid haircuts rule. Honda? The might of HRC seems to be lacking these days from a riders POV and do they want a tall rider on it? The factory BMW was probably the only reasonable option.

I've always thought VDM was overrated. Sykes is also almost 10 years past prime. Maybe the BMW is like the Honda in Motogp, maybe Redding can get something out of it. It's also BMW so I guess if they are serious they'll figure it out.
