Didn't know she was married to Damian Lewis. This is fucking tragic but massive respect to how they've handled it.
Cancer's a pure cunt. In young adulthood it happened to someone else but a lot of us are now in the danger zone. Two of my mates never saw 50 and a 3rd has been teetering on the brink for quite a few years.
Ringpiecebumholeprostate cancer is a real pisser. Get your GP to finger your hoop if you know what's good for you. I haven't. I'm not a bumder.

Couldn’t agree more NoodleMeister, lost my best mate at 35 to bowel cancer...horrible. A colleague died Xmas 2019 from cancer, 50 years old, fit as a fiddle clean living type. Not meaning to put you off your brunch, but I had an endoscopy beginning of 2020 just to get checked out...men of a certain age and all that....one up the bum, no harm done!...get checked out!! |

My brother was caught early with pre-cancerous polyps. As there is a generic link all of the siblings were told to checked. Had the camera up the jacksie, got the all clear & usefully they spotted roids waiting to pop their heads out which made me modify diet a bit. Everyone over 50 should be screened, if you have insurance or the financial means a colonoscopy is better than the poop test. Both are horrible diseaes dont be shy, get tested.

Jim Steinman would have been a great wild card choice.
I doubt many of us would admit to listening to Meatloaf now but I remember the first time I heard Bat out of Hell, listening to the Tommy Vance Friday rock show at the age of 12. Happy days. I also remember taking my daughter to see Meatloaf on her 10th birthday. Even happier days.
He also wrote Total Eclipse of the Heart for Bonnie Tyler which was an epic 80s anthem.
So aye, wouldn't go out of my way to chuck on one of his records now but we have history.

Rollermania was a mental phenomenon. Teenage girls the world over squirting uncontrollably over 5 young men. There had been boy bands before but nothing like this. Even Beatlemania paled by comparison. Les McKeown was 18 when this all happened to him. Didn't seem to matter that they couldn't sing or play any instruments and by that measure they set the boy band template. Of course it was short lived. They were all burnt out with the constant intensity and relentless touring and were just a commodity to a ruthless music industry that made a fortune off their looks while the band made fuck all.
It all turned to shite when they got ideas above their station and wanted to write and play their own music. And, naturally, a couple of the younger ones were being fiddled by the manager.
There was an excellent documentary on BBC4 a couple of years ago that's worth a watch.

Before I read a few books on the 70s era, I just thought Mosley was some high up pervert but he was very much at ground level and him and Ecclestone did some serious moving and shaking during the earlier period. A lot of it for the better.
Hopefully I will be having Nazi themed sex orgies in my 60s.
