www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-57667163Nearly 2,000 Covid cases in Scotland have been linked to people watching Euro 2020 football matches. Public Health Scotland said two thirds of the 1,991 cases were people who travelled to London for Scotland's game with England on 18 June. This included 397 fans who were inside Wembley for the match. A relatively small number of cases reported attending the Fanzone in Glasgow, or Scotland's two home matches at Hampden. Scotland was only allocated 2,600 tickets for the match at Wembley because of Covid restrictions. But tens of thousands of fans are believed to have travelled to London despite warnings not to do so unless they had a ticket.2,600 tickets for Scots, people urged not to go unless they had a ticket. It was wet on match day, so more people indoors drinking and singing than if it would have been dry. Even then, they had to travel. 1991 isnt a large number, but 1300 of those went to London. If they were dumb enough to travel without a ticket they would be dumb enough to not follow CV advice regarding distancing, masks, hands face space etc. Nice little sing song on the journeys. Remember early on the church choir in USA where nearly all of the people caught it after a choir session? Scotland fan Michael MacLean told BBC Radio Scotland's Drivetime programme that he tested positive for Covid following his trip to London for the match against England. The 21-year-old travelled from Inverness on the train, visiting pubs and celebrating with other supporters in Leicester Square during his three-night stay in the city. A few days after returning to Scotland, he showed symptoms of coronavirus. He said: "Leicester Square, I would say, was the spreader. "It was an amazing experience, but I am quite gutted I got Covid because that has affected me, affected my work, it has affected my friends."I'd say it was more likely to be everywhere else rather than an open square.

Makes you wonder how many cases are now due to people watching the football. Daily UK cases and hospital admittances, 1st May onwards, red line is the start of the tournament.

Transport was rammed too. My mate from work went down on a full coach and returned on a packed flight. Airline claimed social distancing would be enforced but there was none. I'm still suspicious that he had it before he travelled as he became ill as soon as he got home.

I'm still suspicious that he had it before he travelled as he became ill as soon as he got home. My understanding is that the heavier the exposure, the sooner the impact. The point being a small dose takes longer to take hold.

England looking a decent shout to reach the final now. All the group F 'favourites' have been dismissed and the only teams of concern left now are Belgium, Spain and Italy, none of whom will meet England before the final.
Belgium/Italy will be tasty tomorrow. My money's on Italy to win the tournament but there have been some fairly big upsets so far so nothing's certain.
I also understand that there's no truth in the rumour that the VAR team are studying the Brexit agreement as part of a retrospective tournament eligibility assessment 😉

I wasnt expecting Mcguire to head one in after the 2nd half started. I thought Southgate would say keep defending, no risks at the half time team chat. Maybe he did. 3-0. Blimey. It was shit defending though for the 3rd. There have been some good comebacks recently, but the way Ukraine's head dropped after the 2nd I cant see that happening.

5 games and still Pickford doesnt have to trouble his back picking the ball out of the back of the net. More goals going in at the other end. No significant injuries. Looking good for England.
