I used to love the old WERA Formula Extreme class in America. Is was a separate organisation from the AMA. But you had two factory Marlborough Yamaha YZR500's competing with tuned to the nuts Suzuki GSXR1100's and FZR1000's etc. It was run on some dodgy circuits as well.
I would watch a no rules, run what you brung class over any other form of motorcycle racing even if it only had national level riders.
