The Spanish fans didn't take too well to the Morrocans celebrating in all the Spanish cities last night!
Begs the question, should they have stayed at home out of respect for the nation which has accepted them as immigrants? That's the message of a lot of comments in social media this morning.
If another country had eliminated Spain I guess there would have been a few isolated points of conflict because Spain, like most countries, has immigrants from lots of different places, but Morroco precisely is the highest represented nationality in Spain through immigration, so it was a bit "in your face".

Of course, but maybe those who celebrated in Spain could have thought about the message that would send and the potential consequences? In an ideal world they should be able to celebrate the same in Spain as in Morroco, Qatar, France or wherever else they may be at the time, but we don't live in an ideal world where the Spanish fans only wanted to go out and shake their hands saying "jolly well played chaps". |
