A heath 1 mile from me had a fire last week, although the fire brigade were quickly on it. It was nice having it so close during covid lockdowns, and most other times, but not so much now. There are usually a couple of heath fires around Poole in summer as fuckwit kids start them. Popular beach at Studland has the heathland behind it on fire. Its been going 3 hours so far. The current wind is SE so blowing it into the harbour, not towards the village. This webcam is useful for looking at the wind conditions in the harbour, but its fire watch today. www.fjbhotels.co.uk/liveview/

I’m a bit fed up of this hot weather now!…I know, I know….shouldn’t complain, but it’s just too hot. 20C+ overnight and 30+ during the day doesn’t translate into a good nights sleep. Temperature drops on Monday and seems to be settling into the low 20’s, might even get some rain next week!..hallelujah!!..an boy do we need some rain!

There is nothing wrong with making a camp fire if it is done properly and responsibly; Unfortunately, most people who have jumped on the camping bandwagon in the past few years due to COVID travel restrictions are fuckwits and have never heard of the Countryside Code!

Q. What dont you want to find whilst fighting heath fires? A. A WW2 unexploded bomb.
From Dorset Plod's FB:
An unexploded device, suspected to be a WW2 ordnance, has been located this morning by firefighters tackling the blaze off Ferry Road on Studland. The EOD will be attending to dispose of it safely. Residents and members of the public may hear a loud bang while this device is dealt with.
Also:
We have been called to reports that more than 300 cars have ignored the council’s no parking signs that have been placed along Ferry Road in Studland to allow the fire service to tackle the large heath fire there. The parking restrictions are in place because the water hose is running along the road to allow firefighters to deal with this incident. We have even received reports that motorists have been moving the hose so they can park up. We would urge anyone who has done this to please return to their vehicles and move them. Please do not park here: our fire colleagues are working in extreme conditions to tackle this blaze and they need the public to help them, not hinder them.
