G S X R 600
K2.
Metallic blue telefonica colours with fancy discs and rearsets. Sorting it out this afternoon.
Thought it was time I got something more focused again. KTM is going, maybe SV as well.

Not picked it yet. This afternoon. Hopefully the sun can come out.
I know it's not ballistic missile fast but it's got enough for the roads.
I should have just bought something like this in the first place instead of fucking about with VFRs etc. I am a sportsbike man and that's that.

Literally only spent a few minutes on it. Wick beast compared to Sv. 1/4 turn throttle and demon brakes.
Fucking knackered today as I'm doing 6 day weeks most of the time while overtime is available. Pays for shit like this. Too tired to pay attention so I'll give it a proper run tomorrow when I'm sharp. I know it's hardly a s1000rr but I don't want to disrespect it until I've figured it out and end up in a hedge.

Good bike.
Try to get a 750 USD front end for it.
Does it have and FI faults? STVA eliminated?

Fuck me. It was too good to be true. Alas I have another one that needs work.
Fucking thing has literally done a about 300 miles in the last 5 years and literally 0 miles between NO ADVISORY, CLEAN MOT's this year and last. In fact it's barely had a an advisory for anything in it's life. Seems like it would be good?
I get on the fucker do about 15 miles and go then through a town with speed bumps and notice it's making a knocking/clicking/notchy noise as the bike suspension decompresses over the speed bumps. I can't feel too much under hard braking but as soon as I go over something like a speed bump I get the noise. My mate reckons it's steering bearings as the bottom ones will be loaded with weight most of the time and speed bump release is allowing them to move.
Any chance it could be fork internals like the sliders?
Fuck knows. Garage is full at moment until I get rid of KTM so not really got enough room to hang it from the joists yet. CUNT!
It's also quite a hard bike to ride fast. The SV feels like a twist and go scooter but this fucker doesn't really do anything until about 9k so you want to go FAST there's no half measures. It'll kick the fuck out of the SV once it's going but it's more a case of having to kick down a couple of gears rather than just rolling on.

If it's sat for long periods of time the bearings can pit but maybe they just need adjusting. Are they taper rollers? Are you surprised that these 600's need their necks wrung to go anywhere fast cos it's well documented.

It's definitely on the downstoke of speedbumps. Tbh, it's not so much of an audible clunk as a feeling of something shifting/moving.
I've got an abba stand but I've managed to lose the default attachments you need to get a specific kit. Time to spend dosh on that.
The suspension itself feels good, better than the basic SV setup by some measure. Not getting any steering problems as such. Seals aren't leaking. I retorqued everything up at the front and recentered the forks with a bit of pinch bolt and brake loosening and bouncing.
What fucks me off is that if it's something obvious, why did it not show up in the few MOTs in which the bike has barely an miles on it between then?
I will probably just see how it goes, if it gets worse then I'll relegate it to the fixing corner and use the SV again. I like that bike so no big deal.
WINTER PROJECT!!!! do everything, forks, wheel bearings, etc. Also has a cunty amount of oil needed for the forks...528ml each leg. You total cunts Suzuki.

Been reading this and that and came across a triumph forum where people were claiming everything was fine on their bike but they were still getting knocking from the forks over speed bumps. Fresh bearing in head, fresh this and that and still a knocking that they couldn't replicate off the bike.
Fuck knows. Mate is coming round tonight so we'll get the front end up somehow and see if anything moves.

Problem solved or at least identified. Got it HOIST up and after a bit of jiggling it was clear it was the headstock. Oh no new bearings needed? Well if you remember I said it didn't do it initially and it was only about 15 miles in it started to play up.
I got the 32mm out and thought I'd just try a quick rememdy and see if the locking rings were loose. The top nut came of VERY easily and I could spin the top locking ring with my fingers. Got the C-spanner on it and tightened them up to a decent (i think) amount and then torqued the top nut down to spec. I can't be arsed to test it just yet but that should be a substantial improvement. If not I know what I need to be fixing. Hopefully I've caught it before the bearings too much wear.
On the plus side it appears I have a full stainless system with a race spec Yoshi on it. It's loud as fuck. Probably really annoying as well.
