That's practice started and we have a TT again thank fuck. Live coverage for the first time and £15 for the fortnight is decent value. Hicky over 130 mph last night, Davie Todd looking a good bet too. Impressed by Glen Irwin is going well on his debut too.

What's going on with Dunlop and PBM? Now he's on the PBM Ducati when a couple of weeks ago he was all fallen out with Bird. I know it's only practice but I wonder if it's fast enough?

Didn't realise he was on the Ducati. Thought he had a Suzuki deal. Fuck knows what he's up to. Bit of a racing whore. Practice for sidecars cancelled last night due to Sam West crashing at Laurel Bank and the bike catching fire.

Got to say the Birchill brothers, Ben and Tom are looking unbeatable in the sidecar class. These guys are taking it to a new level. They also manufacture LCR chassis and the latest is ultra light, super low and wind tunnel developed. Interesting innovation with the use of 2 drive chains with a 2nd sprocket mounted on the pivot point of the swinging arm to reduce flex and increase chain life. Simple really but no one seems to have thought of that before.

Well Hicky just murdered everyone. Makes you wonder how many he'd have if he'd started early on.

TT organisers have confirmed a sidecar passenger has died, and his teammate is in a critical condition, following an incident in today's abandoned Sidecar 1 race.
Newcomer Olivier Lavorel, from France, was killed in the incident at Ago's Leap this afternoon on the opening lap of the race, which was subsequently red flagged.
Driver Cesar Chanel was initially taken to Noble's Hospital, by road, but has since been airlifted to Aintree University Hospital.
The pair were making their debut at the TT, but were regulars in the French F1 and F2 Championships, while Lavorel's older brother Sebastien has also competed on the Island as a TT sidecar passenger.
The duo had impressed in qualifying, setting the 15th best lap time of the week, moving them up to 21st in the starting order for today's proceedings.
The Isle of Man TT Races has expressed its deepest sympathy to Lavorel's family and friends, and has offered best wishes and thoughts to Chanel.

On-bike camera action is fucking terrifying. Every year I say the same. I wonder to what degree the ever better quality contributes? Adrenaline junkies the lot of them. I enjoyed the highlights last night. I guess Rutter has only so much stamina. His pace is good, early on. That sidecar accident sounds horrible. My big fear is a big one at the bottom of Bray Hill.

I've never felt so much anticipation for a TT and the live coverage is brilliant. Great that they now get a morning warm up lap. Must kill a few nerves. Hicky impressed the shit out of Mr gas monkey and has probably just secured his future. Impressed by McGuiness and Irwin. Shame about Todd and Cummins, Padgetts bikes are usually totally reliable. By the way Davo Johnson is an absolutely brilliant pundit. He's got a future behind the mic. The sidecar race was shaping up well but baffling crash at Ago's. Pretty hard to walk away from that. So sad. My first ever race was as a spectator was in 1978 for the Hailwood comeback and also Jock Taylor's debut win. I watched from a garden at the bottom of Bray Hill and witnessed the separate accidents that killed Mac Hobson, Kenny Birch and Ernch Trachel. It was horrific and clearly fatal but the race continued with the bodies covered by tarpaulins. Back then they didn't red flag unless the road was impassable and the fact that the dead competitors were never mentioned again in commentary was the only clue there was a fatality. Brutal times.

Two names there, Mac Hobson, the local guy second in the world championship at the time, and Jock Taylor the cheery Scot, him, Alain Michel and Dick Greasley at Mallory race of the year was the most spectacular race i ever saw.

Pretty sure there's a YouTube video of that race. Before the chicanes and was memorable indeed.

Well Dunlop sure rode like a filthy animal again. Amazing how close it was in general though.
A bit tainted by death again but it is what it is.

Dunlop was superb and had to be as Harrison was on the absolute limit. I heard that the accident that caused the death of Davy Morgan was due to Dunlop tyre de-lamination. That will send shock waves through the paddock. Anyone see the video of the football rolling down Bray Hill as McPint lashed past flat out in the superbike race. Fucking shocking that can happen.
