Wrong rider identified as dead in the sidecar accident. Bit of a fuck up. The other rider is still in critical condition though so still nowhere near out of the woods.

Horrible mix up and terrible for the relatives. Social media reporting both dead but the passenger is still fighting for survival.
I rode the Manx GP newcomers race and retired at Ginger Hall with a fucked wheel bearing then reported my retiral to a marshal. This should be transmitted to the grandstand so pit crew knew i was safe but somehow this never happened. I had a pint, watched the remainder of the race before riding slowly back to my garage. My pit crew were white with shock when I appeared. No mention on the commentary usually meant a fatality so I literally came back from the dead.

Sponsors are definitely necessary to keep racing alive but i wish the riders didn't have to give us the full page description in post race interviews.
"How did your race go Hicky?"
" Brilliant. I got the head down from the start and the Gas Monkey by FHO by Fay Ho BMW never missed a beat "
He's got to have to practiced that speech. Hicky's brilliant and he has to tow the party line but i wish he'd just say that the bike was a fucking animal and it was really down to rider skill.
Joey never became a corporate slave and neither does Michael. Must be a Dunlop thing.

It's a BSB thing. Started with holding the helmet in full view a few years ago and now the all have these awkward interviews while they try and balance their helmets in shot.
I watched something with McGuiness and he was claiming the new average speeds now are all machine top end and corner speed isn't up much if at all. I guess stuff like the new blade and the Uber spec BMW are proper 200+ machines.

Hicky and Micky D are winning everything so far and they are clearly using every bit of road and way quicker on the bendy bits than everyone else apart from Deano who is due a win.

I guess we'll never quite connect the dots because after Fogarty and Hislop the TT reverted back to the domain of the 'road racer' for a while. Doing 123mph on stuff with 160 hp and suspension/geometry of the day is still impressive compared to 230+hp modern bikes.
The style has definitely changed though. It used to be 'look at the TT' as justification for never needing to get knee down on the road, as rarely any of the riders did it. Now they are all hanging off like monkeys.

A 2 lap TT race is a bit TT-light.
Another sad days as well with father and son outfit killed in sidecars.

The father and son aspect is as bad as it gets. You know it's bad when the Daily Mail use it as the top story. Top comment is 'this event needs to be stopped'

Tragic for the family to see a father and son lose their lives but they were doing what they loved. I can't get my head around the fact that 3 competitors died and 1 seriously injured in separate crashes at the same spot. Must be horrific for the marshals and medics to deal with.
Hicky said all the right things in his senior post race interview and once again he was immense.
Going back to the 2nd supersport race it was a brilliant dice between Dunlop and Hickman and so close in the end but I've got to question why McGuiness was allowed to go off number 1. He clearly didn't have the pace on a 600 and impeded so many riders who were trying to pass him safely. He is a TT legend but I personally hope he quits now.

Top comment is 'this event needs to be stopped' I was fuming about the BBC sports page, hardly ever have bike racing on their page and then when there's a death its there on the main page.....Bastards. Either cover bike racing regularly or not at all.

What an event the TT is, no doubt in my mind that its the ultimate motorsport achievement, massive respect for every bloke taking part but the really fast guys.......WOW . But i just posted the above comment and it made me think about two work colleagues last week, they both said "oh yeah the TT is on my to do list", so i asked them if they knew anything about it..... do you know you'll only see them flash past 4 times about every 18 minutes, errr no...., do you know you'll have to get to your viewing point before the roads close, errr no, did you know if the weathers shit there will not be any racing and you may go for a few days and see fuck all, err no. And thats what pisses me off about mainstream coverage, just not interested about informing Joe public about the TT until some poor bloke loses his life. The two work fellas don't seem so keen now they know a bit more about it, just didnt have a clue.

We took this bloke along in 99 and he just couldn't get to grips with the time trial thing. I don't know what he was expecting but he seemed to think first on road was leading and you couldn't explain otherwise. Thick cunt.
Is the senior TT still run what you brung or is it superbikes only? Could you run a MotoGP bike around it?
