I agree Beefus, there is no chance of NATO invading Russia, but NATO is becoming larger. Most of the ex USSR states and old communist run countries have joined NATO. Talking of energy, the UK is relying on France's EDF to help us finance & build our nuclear power stations. We get a lot of electricity from France, (Channel Islands all), as they have nuclear stations. On the consumer prices side, the French government has told EDF to take the hit on the loss, and limit rises to 4%. So if EDF have less profits, thats less money to put into our failing energy production. We have kicked China's investment into touch, and pissed off the French with the AUKUS submarine deal. And Brexit. In the future our electricity consumption will rocked as we move to electric cars. And now we are siding more with the US on the Ukraine/Russia issue. Lets stop wasting money there and get our own services into order. www.theguardian.com/business/2022/jan/14/france-edf-cap-household-energy-billswww.theguardian.com/environment/2021/sep/25/ministers-close-to-deal-that-could-end-chinas-role-in-uk-nuclear-power-station

China may be sidelined in the deal to build new nuclear but it still owns a lot of our generation infrastructure, particularly offshore wind farms which are normally built as joint ventures due to the high levels of capex. Also, it's not unusual for large shares of these sites to be sold during construction where they have high value. Red Rock is a large Chinese investment organisation.
Nuclear is too expensive. It always was, even when we were being told it was cheap. It also leaves a particularly dirty jobbie to be flushed. The money would be better spent on storage for offshore wind.

The underlying disease with this Tory government (more than any in the past that I recall) is that they are in it for themselves, and fuck anyone else. Just lie and bluster to get themselves out of any problems, and to get their way on issues.
2 recent symptoms.
1. Owen Patterson reportedly taking bribes for lobbying ministers, breaking the rules, and Tories voting to not suspend him so they can change the rules. 2. Partygate. Seems trivial compared to what else is going on.
The first, maybe the general public think that's corrupt politicians, but it doesnt directly affect them just brush it off. Local to the issue, the Lib Dems won the by-election, so was that the penalty served? I was surprised nothing more happened about that.
The second, nearly everyone has been affected by covid, the rules and the restrictions, loss of earnings, stress etc.

Just lie and bluster to get themselves out of any problems, and to get their way on issues. This is exactly the problem. Power at any cost and get another suitcase of champagne in. The money that they have burned unnecessarily through Brexit and then the pandemic is eye watering and us daft cunts will need to foot the bill. The current situation is quite dangerous as Johnson will not relent power without a fight. This will be highly damaging to UK plc and he will not give the slightest of fucks. The knives are out now though.

The US media are really pushing for war, and I can "understand" why Putin is so pissed off given that NATO has continually broken it's promises on expansion. With Trump recently in charge of the USA and now Biden, I can see why any foreign power might be wondering whats going to happen. The AUKUS agreement and we go to bed with US. I see Russia & China are now best mates www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-china-tell-nato-stop-expansion-moscow-backs-beijing-taiwan-2022-02-04/If Russia said 'get your own gas' and China 'make your own goods' the RotW would be fucked for quite a while.

Some of the comments are equally as brilliant. Some people think this is a real interview and not a wind up.

Meanwhile, bizarrely, this is a real interview. Or is it? Impossible to tell in these days of comedy politics.

Dorries literally could not scream "I'M SHAGGING HIM!" any louder. She also looks like a total bunny boiler. This pantomime is far from over and the final act looks set to be a belter.

Meanwhile, bizarrely, this is a real interview. Or is it? Impossible to tell in these days of comedy politics. Rosie Holt's comedy answers, and she did actually answer the questions, were actually more on point and helpful than Dorries' actual being serious waffle. Sooz Kempner's put a slant on the Dorries interview I hadn't thought of. Is Dorries paranoid now because of the other spoof videos about her recently? She shouldn't take them seriously, maybe there is someone she can talk to in the HoC to help her out with it, like a digital media sort of person. Oh, she is Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadine_DorriesShe also clashed with David Cameron and George Osborne, describing them as "two arrogant posh boys".

It's quite telling how far the Tory party has swung to the reich when John fucking Major is the voice of compassionate humanitarianism

Nadine Dorres was so defensive, continually looking right and left and not directly at the camera. Dead giveaway.

Cressida Dick's resignation announcement was solid gold. She claimed that the reason she was resigning was because the mayor had lost all confidence in her abilities. That's right, she managed to find a man to blame for her leaving the job she was making a rip-roaring cunt of. Any cunt who's ever been married will recognise that sound.
Happy Friday peeps.
