First storm of the winter and yup the electric is off once again, three winters running its gone down, went off Friday night, we got it back Saturday night then Sunday night, parts of the village have had nothing since Friday evening, shocking state of affairs for this day and age.
I'm thinking about buying a house in town instead out in the country.
But looking at the snow storms around the country we seem to got off lightly, how has your area been affected ?.

Just a light dusting in Lanarkshire. Fuck all really. It's a bit early though. Unusual to get this shite in November.

We had no power from 6 pm Friday to 9 pm Saturday. Luckily we've got a stove in the living room and could boil water and heat soup but the wind on Friday night was humongous. Trees down all over the shop and a nearby pine wood which was exposed on the coast was virtually flattened. Scary.

...parts of the village have had nothing since Friday evening, shocking state of affairs for this day and age. You say that but I think that we take the supply of power to our homes for granted. The national grid was built in the 1950s and there are quite a lot of opportunities for supply to be interrupted between the generation source and your hoose. I'd argue that the fact that power cuts are so rare is a bit of a modern success story. Not much comfort when your baws are clanging right enough. Micro CHP is the way around this. Generate your own electricity.
