My foot has been annoying me this year , like a trapped nerve, comes and go but very painful when it's painful.
Anyway, went to docs , have x-ray and have 'changes consistent with osteoarthritis'. Doesn't seem much you can actually do about it?

It's a slippery slope Mekon.
I fractured and dislocated my shoulder and had to get tested for osteoporosis. Turns out I've got it in my spine and now on weekly tablet for 5 years. That was 3 years ago mind and I feel no different. All the smashed bones from bike accidents coming home to roost

Well that's a pisser Pants. From what I've read it's a bit suck it and take the pain.
Read it can cause bone spurs which I'm sort of hoping mine is as at least you can shave it. Mine pain is like a nerve pathway catching.
I guess all that jumping off ledges on skateboards and messing up jumps on bikes and landing feet first isn't good in the long run.

You kind of get used to pain and there's always co-codamol for a prescription buzz. Hope you don't get too much gip from it

Yeah, it's an odd one. I've either got lots of pain or zero pain. It's not a major problem at the moment it's just kind of increasing in frequency. At the moment I'd not say I had a problem at all but I've no idea when it'll decide to play up. Fuck knows what state people like Hopper are in.

My aches and pains are mostly related to my back/neck….hernia disc replacement in my neck 9 years ago, another in my lower back right side this year that was self healing. I reckon once it starts it’s a knock on effect down the chain. Oh well….could be worse, we could be in the middle of a pandemic!! …..imagine that!

Non traumatic arthritis is terrible. Hopefully it stays there mekon. I know I'm going to have a knee replaced one day. Funny thing is, the hip on the other side is more of a problem.

If it's caused by extreme overuse and maybe a bit of damage due to carelessness, I'm expecting to be suffering from severe cockthritis when I get back from Thailand.

Luckily no, but have had a fair share of knee probs, torn pcl both knee, 2x miniscus op right knee. Duff shoulder that probably should be operated, lower back to pelvis vertibrae worn, titianium rod in left leg. On rehab for a Lisfranc fracure of the foot right now that could give cronic pain. Off to be tested for osteoporosis over new year, but doctor doesn't think I have it. Just over active lifestyle through the years.
Used to be in a lot of pain in knees, shoulder and back, hardly any problem anymore after taking up yoga.

The family illness, my mother is stricken, brother had a hip at 49, sister at 48, I got to 59 possibly due to being fitter and cycling a lot. The other needs doing but I'm hanging on till Cov is gone (good luck with that). I used to manufacture hips & knees and have seen the operation first hand. Its a bit brutal. One thing though, leave it as late as you can for hip or knee replacement, especially if you are active. A hip should last around 25 years (some longer some shorter) a revision (term for replacement hip replacement) can be sketchy. The implant needs to be hammered out, if its well fixed in, thats not good for aging brittle bones. When a joint is on the way out a lot of the pain is caused by inflammation, sugar and dairy tend to feed inflammation and taking weight off the joint helps, so ditch the pies. Genetics is a big factor, look at yer folks or grandparents, thats the issue in my family. It can also be caused as a result of specific trauma to a joint so pain in one spot doesn't necessarily mean you will be riddled with it later in life.
Eddie, have yer gait analysed. I worked with a guy who played a lot of foolball when he was younger. Went to the doctor with a very sore knee, doctor got him to walk across the room. Pointed to his good knee and asked if he'd ever injured it. Said yes but years ago. Doc said he'd got used to protecting it and was putting more force on the other knee causing the pain. He actually gave him exercises to strengthen and re-align the supposedly "good" knee which solved the issue. Your hip pain could be something similar.

I got diagnosed with cervical spondylosis about 6 years ago after a few attacks of neck and shoulder pain. When it came back a few years later a different doctor said that the diagnosis was wrong and that what I had was a herniated disc in my neck. Then a few years ago I had a twinge of pain and had another scan which showed no visible hernia. So basically nobody knows what the fuck is wrong with me but I get nerve related issues in my shoulders arms and hands quite often, but normally I can put up with it by taking analgesics until it goes away. One day I think it will cause me some serious grief and I'll have to have to have something done, maybe bone shaving or disc replacement, who knows?
