Finally had a bit of time off of work (one week holiday) so once I had done a few jobs that were in dire need of doing (thermostat on car) I took the plunge and purchased a new games console. I've always been a Playstaion man and I have had a version of every Playstation except the new PS5. Largely because I have little time to game nowadays and also the fact that you still can't go and buy one new from the shops though. A friend of mine is a bit of a gaming guru who used to work for EA. He got a PS5 when they were first out and I have to say, I didn't like the look of it. Never been an Xbox person but my son loved them and over the years I purchased him a 360, One and the Series S more recently.
I have to say I liked the look and specifications of the Series X and decided to get one of them but by the time I had figured that out, they were all sold out. And they haven't been back in stock since! So last weekend I went and got a Series S instead and will upgrade to the X when one becomes available. Been playing MotoGP 2020, Rocket League, Doom Eternal and I'm downloading Forza 4 now. Have to say it is a lot of next gen console for the money and I highly recommend it.
Anyone else here gaming on Xbox?

My lad started off on a PS2. (I feel old.) Then he went XBox. A few years ago he was adamant the cool kids were on Playstation so CEXed it all in to swap over to a used PS4. It hasn't skipped a beat despite years of over use.
To answer the question, an apologetic no.

No point given I have a decent pc. Literally all the Xbox exclusives are also on windows....so that's Forza and Halo. Can't think of anything else Microsoft bring to the table.
Even the PlayStation games are now coming out on PC. Bloodborne is out soon and God of war.
Tbh I have just about had enough of gaming. Most games companies have caved into Twitter alphabet people and all the characters are gays or something. You've got people complaining about Mario being a misogynist, no blacks in Viking games and Ea putting black women soldiers in multiplayer WW2 games. No doubt soon Sonic will have to be gay.
The other problem is fucking remakes. The just redid Alan fucking Wake. Stuff less than a generation old being remade. No ideas at all. That or fucking PvP shit like Fornite.
I put some serious time into Cyberpunk during lockdown and then same again with The Witcher 3 but other than that I can't be fucked with gaming. Sim racing is sim racing.
My recommendation is get Coin Ops Next installed on PC and just live in the past.

I have Game Pass Ultimate on the Xbox. Lets me play Xbox and PC games, I have emulation covered plus I have a few old consoles that I acquired this year for the genuine experience.

If a remake allows an idea to realise its potential I'm ok with it, as with gta remakes. The ideas were too big for the PS2 really.
They should remake zx spectrum games. Some of those were really ambitious given the hardware. Imagine 3d ant attack in VR!

For me, the best games ever were Quake III and UT GOTY. Nothing has come close to hours played for me.

I think the whole entertainment circus has run out of steam. Films and music seem just as tired and cynical.
Games are now megafucked as they are stupidly expensive to make now. I guess at some point AI will start to build game assets but at the moment a AAA game takes way more manhours than a film. The potential returns now exceed films as well.
Imagine being 17 in 1983 and putting in 6 weeks work and making a £1m . That was bedroom coding. Before the copyright era you could literally ripoff an arcade game and make decent money.

I downloaded a re-release of Doom a few years ago and lost an entire weekend to it.
Good luck if you have excellent personal discipline but I'd be hoofing it to Katie Price's dealer at 5am if I started playing games again.

Interesting fact. Add 2 letters to gaming and you get gambling.

Anyway, got to pick up my fixed Spectrum, a computer geek friend had fixed it. All the games availible online and you use you mobile as a tape deck. Faster loading.

Did myself a Launchbox edition of the spectrum and BBC model B. 1200 games all with cassette covers. No fancy videos like Coin Ops Next but still functional.
The problem with some of the pre-made releases for Pi and stuff is people have left out the Ultimate stuff like Sabrewulf due to copyright hassles. At first nobody gave a fuck about roms and emulators but now companies (especially Nintendo) are realizing they can release this shit again and so are cracking down on some of the rom sites.
Some madlad has coded Bloodborne in a Ps1 game! Stupidly he's announced it before it's finished so no doubt Sony will hit him with a cease and desist. Pretty wild that people are de-mastering games by 3 generations though.
