In the UK there isn't as much interest in sponsorship as on the continent, so buying rides is difficult. If there were more UK teams in the MotoGP and support series paddock, would they give UK riders longer than 1 year? So its great to see MLav getting a team going for next year. 400 emails for sponsorship and nothing? What was offered in return? I see his youtube channel only really kicked off 1 year ago and now has 20.9k subscribers. Maybe some of those 400 requests would have received a return if they could see the following you have now, and hence some potential for sponsors coverage. Self promotion is key, maybe opportunities were missed, its daft the things some 'influencers' do and get a return for it in comparison to bike racing. Being Niall's son may have opened doors maybe, although it didnt seem like it. Maybe someone more media savvy would do better. There are a number of windsurfers, most who aren't at the very top of the sport but close, who have youtube channels and do a good job of producing content. Their sponsors must be really happy, so they stay with them quite a long time in comparison to bike racing.
In the end, if you get paid its a career. If you have to pay, its a hobby.

It's incredible how career paths can hinge on small mistakes or accidents. The list of riders he beat in Spain is like a who's who. Taylor showed his class at Donington coming from 31st to 1st. That was amazing. I think he'll do well media if that's where he'll end up.
