Apparently he started off his press conference with I'm here to talk about track limits and Magny Cours....  I've still use the pen I got when I joined the Chaz57 fan club to help fund his early days in 125/250cc days around 2002/2003. Seems a long time ago and he is only 34 now. He started very young. I remember BSB commentators saying his headmaster had let him have time off school to race. Magny Cours in his WSS title winner year, he won the last race. Happy days.  |

Been reading the Broadbent book 'ring of fire' again. Part of it chronicles the diverging fortunes of Stoner and Davies. I guess Chaz still sort of made it in the end but he's now relegated to a sort of Martin Brundell type figure.

I reckon Stoner had a bit more talent, but Davies has had a great career. There arent too many with a World championship title. He went to school in Herefordshire, not too far from where I grew up, but born just over the border. Not too many Welsh racers have made it good.
He said he will still be riding bikes, but no hints at BSB. It would be a shame if he rode in BSB but didnt get a top ride in BSB and ended up mid pack. Wife and kid, it would be good to retire healthy.

Was at Valencia in 2005, remember sharing a table in the hotel with some Spanish fans and they genuinely didn't understand why the British neither rated or supported him. GB racing was still in the throws of WSBK mania. That year he was racing a just about B kitted 250 prillia and was getting top 10's on that nail. His results barely got a mention in MCN which was scandalous as he was riding the wheels off the thing. Wrong class for the Brits, wrong passport for GP,s. Same old.

Well in the book I'm reading seems Chaz was at times a Dorna armtwist and not actually wanted by the teams anyway.
One team owner wouldn't even speak to him.

There are no British teams in the series which is why MLAVs team is so important.
