I googled 'US poll Afghanistan troops withdrawal' and the results from recent polls on a variety of websites returned between 58% and 73% or thereabouts favouring getting the troops out of there.

At least nukes have never gotten into the wrong hands (I mean the hands of terrorists vs say Kim Jong-un for example). I cant understand why there has not been a good modern day movie that accurately portrays what an all out nuclear war would look like. Most people I have spoken to have absolutely no idea of what these weapons would do. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were firecrackers compared to what we have now. Living in the US when Trump was mocking another nuclear country with his whole 'my red button is bigger than yours' tweets were shocking and scary to read. Made me doubt if even he knows. Politics aside, its good not to have to worry about that for 4 more years. I loved the Stephen King book The Dead Zone and it got some attention when Trump got in as its quite close to the story he wrote about how someone outside of mainstream politics could come to power and go on to start a nuclear war. The film is average at best, but it has a great acting scene where Martin Sheen hits the launch button. |
