I get that, I'm just not so sure it will be the overriding issue. For some reason, Trump is strong on the economy to a lot of voters yet even before the virus he had ballooned the national debt and the deficit. He brags about creating a strong economy that he inherited. Add to that the millions of job losses, small business and farm closures, upcoming mass evictions for folk that can no longer pay their rent, tear gassing peaceful demonstrations and all the fucking rest of his disastrous term then I'm not convinced a faceless organisation like Antifa will matter as much. It's up to the Democrats to steer the narrative now and shine a light on the real issues. I think that some of the points you raised will be taken into account by more educated voters. But people only remember the last sound bite sadly. What happened pre-covid is forgotten. And the middle class American voter doesn't give two shits about tear gassing protesters. I can't comment on the Democrat's real possibilities or Biden because we don't get so much exposure to the US political scene over here. But on the BoJo / Trump alliance and 51st state allegations, didn't we hear that with Maggie and Ronnie all those years back? The UK has always been more American than Europe. Loads of people here ask me why that is before even asking if I agree with it, it's just so obvious when seen from a European perspective. |

Johnson is isolating us from our closest neighbours. We're sitting ducks for a shitey trade deal with America. If anyone will beat Trump it will be Trump. He tweeted yesterday calling on a boycott for Goodyear tyres because they banned certain political attire (MAGA hats) from the workplace. A massive American employer with thousands of American employees who's main competitors are all foreign. And he wants to destroy them because they gave him a petted lip. |

The Democrats are doing the same as they did in 2016...trying to woo Republicans.....how did that go?.....how about trying to woo Democrats who wouldn’t vote for corrupt Hillary?...They’re not offering anything , I’ve watched some of the DNC convention and it’s all Trump bashing, that won’t work...they’ve been doing that for 4years....The Democrats are basically Republicans in disguise, and the ones who are considered “progressive” have been sidelined for now, in other words....shut the fuck up and do what Pelosi says....you know, the 100 millionaire Pelosi. Kamala Harris got the square root of fuck all in the Democrat Presidential nominee race and she’s there VP pick.....I despair....even if Biden gets elected nothing will fundamentally change.....his words not mine.

Thing is Beeflejuice, last 30 years, every Republican administration has inherited a booming economy from the Democrats and turned it into a recession and every Democrat administration has inherited a recession from the Republicans and turned it into growth. Clinton put the budget into surplus for the first time since the 60s.
You can find criticism in everyone. American politics relies so heavily on financial donations to succeed that there can't be a single one of them who is whiter than white. So you're looking at the least bad choice and right now a potato would make a better president than Trump. A potato.
The difference between now and 4 years ago is that America has seen the utter chaos of a Trump presidency. Now, for some reason 40% of them have enjoyed it but he has no policy other than "adore me you cunts".
Republican convention next week. Trump keeps hinting at doing multiple terms. Anyone want to bet that he dumps Pence as his VP pick and runs with Ivanka instead?

Pre-covid the American economy was doing better than Obama years. There was less black unemployment under Trump.
Liberals going on about how the USA would be hell under trump.....yeah, they're the ones smashing the place up!

Covid-19 is 10 times deadlier, accelerates faster and decelerates slower. They are very different strains so direct comparisons are spurious at best. I don’t remember any panic about H1N1 in Europe, much less any lockdowns... Remember the Democrats were criticising Trump for banning travel from China in January calling it racist and xenophobic?....I think they’ve changed their tune a bit now...you can’t have it both ways.....well actually you can if you’re a politician!... I don’t know what any other President would have done differently but I doubt that the current situation would be much better...just look around the world. |

Well here's the paradox. Trump has, since before he was elected, campaigned on a fully racist/xenophobic ticket. Building the wall, trying to restrict foreign students, restricting foreign workers, etc and he saw the opportunity to ban Chinese travellers. He didn't ban travel from China for everyone, just the ones who look different from him. Loads of flights came in from China and the passengers were neither tracked nor traced. He also didn't ban travel from Europe until it was too late and even then American citizens were allowed to travel and we all saw the chaos of them being packed into airports like sardines for hours to clear immigration. No masks, social distancing, nothing. Why do you think it started in New York? Italian travel.
Trump knew about this virus in December and America was later than the rest of the planet to experience mass infection. He could have devised a plan to ban foreign travel and monitor Americans returning from abroad but he didn't give a fuck and there was important golfing that needed done. America could have avoided this chaos with leadership. And don't forget he dismantled the pandemic response team that Obama put in place. The virus might have originated in China but America's mess is 100% Trump's mess.

ANother goodie from the DNC that shows they are no different to the GOP. Quietly cancelling the ending of fossil full subsidies, despite claiming to support it during the primary's. A good example of how they no more represent the American people that the Republicans...they're all in it together, like I said, nothing will fundamentally change. People will vote for Biden because he's a bit less worse than Trump...which is sad.
