Yeah not great.
Solid from Rory S. Gino did okay - he must be an 'old timer' relatively speaking now.

I thought Skinner was disappointing. But I do expect him to step up at some point in the season.

I thought Skinner was disappointing. But I do expect him to step up at some point in the season. High expectations for Skinner but in normal times stepping up a class and a new team he would have done a serious amount of testing but was reduced to 2 days and one was in the pissing rain. I thought he rode sensibly and expect an upwards curve. Hickman looks lean, lost over 2 stone. Love the blue livery. Hope the racing is better tomorrow.

Boring as. What happened to Brookes?
Expected more of Skinner, Kent and Ryde as well. Miles from the leading pack.

There's 30 odd races in a season. The qualifying times showed that these young guys were not going to be near the front. The current champion struggled so why expect more from a rookie.

Well because one is being lauded as potential motogp material, one was moto3 champion and the other needs to do something or get stuck in BSB.

Better second race. Not a fan of Jason O'Halloran, but that last corner move was class. The superstock 1000 race is packed with talent. At least ten of those riders could score points in BSB.

Skinner - I would say these days there is fuck all chance of getting into MotoGP by racing in BSB.
BSB R1 & 2, Brookes was slow at the 1st meeting last year, and as its back to showdown format, ease himself into the year again.
Iddon has raised his game so far, nearly = 1st in the standings if it hadnt been for that pesky O'Halloran pulling off that pass.

Decent third race but kind of expected those results after the previous two races. Andrew Irwin and TAS Racing to split within the first three meetings. Can't see past O'Halloran, Iddon, Brookes, Mackenzie, Bridewell and Hickman to be the showdown riders.

Disappointing weekend in terms for racing in BSB and ss600. If Redding had rocked up to bsb and only just scraped into the points he'd have been crucified, so I fail to see how Skinner is the next coming of Christ. I guess ss600 standard is actually wank?
More perplexed about Brookes, no doubt Bird will be pisses off.
Oulton seems to have suffered as a race since the bikes have got better and better. Very few places to make a move now, even the chicane rarely sees an overtake now.

I think we are long overdue a couple of brand new circuits being built but I can't see it happening in this modern climate where motor sport is frowned upon. BSS is a decent level but the move to British superbikes is a big jump up in class. It is a lot bigger jump nowadays than it was in the past. Personally I would be looking at the superstock 1000 front runners if I ran a BSB team. But it all goes back to the progression through the classes. There isn't a good path to go from domestically. You start out wanting to progress to the MotoGP paddock so you join the BTC. If you don't win that your choices are junior supersport. Even if you win that, it is a big jump onto junior superstock. Then you either move to supersport or superstock 1000. If you win races at either of those levels you could get a chance on a superbike in BSB. If you do win at BTC then you continue to chase the MotoGP dream by doing the various formulas until you get to Moto3. If you fail at any point before Moto3, where do you go? Back to junior supersport where all the blokes you were beating 2 or 3 years ago have already made a name for themselves. I'm rambling but it used to be much clearer what you needed to do in the past to progress and what classes were dead end classes.

Isn't it Knockhill next? Another one line track that rarely produces much.
