The radiator needs replacing on my K5 GSX-R750. I'll buy a second hand one if nothing else is available, but I'd rather purchase a new one. Most of the ones that I've found on-line appear to be manufactured in China and I've been warned against buying one as these as the fit isn't normally very good. Genuine Suzuki item is approx. £600 - £700!
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can buy a non-Chinese, UK supplied replacement?

Just an option but if the ends are ok thought about having yours re-cored. Once had a race bike rad re-cored, people who did that aren't around anymore but this lot are advertising re-core of bikes. www.aaronradiator.co.uk/motorcycle-radiators/

That's outrageous. Then again years ago when my mate totalled his gsxr600 a new subframe a mental price and its just some cheap shit metal welded together.
My mate needed a rad for his 1300 BMW and that was only 500 fitted. Suzuki seem to be robbers.

600 is actually quite cheap. I had a replacement priced up for my rgv years back and it was 1200.
Depends what's wrong with it though. Radweld is very effective and very cheap. Just don't run it through the entire system. Isolate the radiator and just run it through. It will last 5 years easily.

I know what a radiator does. I can see what it appears to be made of.
WHY IS IT SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE!!?!?!? How much does it cost to mass produce the fucking things? Fuck all I'd guess.

Manufacturers can be total robbing bastards. Last week a guy from work replaced the handbrake shoes on his Hyundai Santa Fe. One of the pins was a bit slack in the backing plate but he stuck it together. Next day the pin came slack and jammed in the disc seizing the disc and left him stranded. He managed to get home and phoned round garages and was quoted between £2000 and £3000 to replace both rusty backplates. You can only buy the parts from Hyundai and the mass produced steel pressed backing plates are £241 each!!!! Solution was to remove one side handbrake shoes and trade the cunt in.

Fuck me. I'd be straight on Ebay, buy the used parts.
That GSXR600 my mate fucked was basically a write off apart from the engine and various other parts. He bought another frame from dodgy dave and his old man restamped his old frame numbers into it as he had a full on workshop in the back garden. I think there was a feature on dealer prices at time and it would have cost about 20k to build a GSXR600 from dealer parts. He only bought the few bits he couldn't find used.
Back to radiators. They all sort of look the same to me. How are they different? Can you stick a different radiator in if mounts allow?

I had to get my rusty backplates replaced recently. Cunt of a job. They're circular but you need to dismantle the axle to get them on. My mechanic mate's solution was to cut out a v shape so they could slip on without removing the axle. Time will tell if he's made a cunt of it. But aye, OEM parts can be ridiculous. I use Autodoc.

(sorry I have no idea re your question) I rode a K7 1000, when I was last thinking about getting another bike back in the late 2000, and it was worrying how quickly you could go with so little effort. The same thing happened with a 2008 R1 going up Fish Hill, on the A44 just outside Broadway in the Cotswolds; I was bimbling along, with the engine hardly ticking over and when I glance down I'm doing 120mph! I was so used to my higher revving 750, that even with the engine plodding along I was hitting 3 figure speeds; I'm not sure if my licence would survive!

A replacement second hand or new rad is the only option; any second hand rads are going to 15 years old+

The K7 is supposed to be vastly different to the K5/K6. I really want to try its one of those early ones. I've been along Fish Hill and that road to/from Oxford many many times. Much prefer going up than coming down. Got to be careful on the approach to the first left hander at the bottom, its nearly caught me out a few times as the run up to its is soooo open and fast.
