Since Eurosport decided to overrun tennis and cycling it didn't record. I finally saw a bit of it and Gerloff is turning into a danger man. Rea with luck of the Irish again there. Gerloff lost it on the brakes, he wasnt even trying to overtake. It was unlucky for Rinaldi that he was taken out. But I get the impression this wont be the last incident Gerloff has this year. He has the pace for regular podiums but seems to push his luck (or skill) too much.

I went back and watched it again, and yes, I think Redding was very lucky to have got away with no jump start, not that it would have made a difference in the end anyway...
But what we see on the TV is probably not the same as the race direction see when they review anyway. Redding rolled forward, then braked. I guess that the call was that when the red lights went out he was stationary and still behind the line. More luck than judgement? Probably. Was Toprak worse? Certainly!
By the way are we dropping spoilers? I watched it all but was refraining from posting detail....

Race 2 was shaping up to be uber tasty until Gerlof intervened. He truly must think he has the lord on his side. Saw god then braked. Scott had a big hand from his teammate duffing up JR but this tyre choice seems to be deciding races. Still think if Bautista and Chas can qualify up the front they can do some damage and Toprak is going to win races this year, unlucky with the jump start but the long lap penalty is fairer and better for us fans too.

I thought you ex-EU dwellers were going to get the full races in the post on Tuesday or something but hell, if we're commenting "with spoilers"....
I agree that Gerlof can look a bit desperate at times, but I actually think that Rinaldi is in a potentially worse situation in that he is in extreme danger of having his arse handed to him by Davies. His move on Rea smacked of panic to me.
I don't actually think that Davis is any better a rider than Rinaldi, but i think the pressure of a factory ride is affecting Rinaldi to the same extent that the lack of factory pressure is good for Chaz.
In any case Saint Gareth of Gerlof is good for the entertainment factor.
I'm also starting to wonder if Bautista didn't have a lucky year with the Ducati. Now in his second year with HRC, one of the bikes with the most cash being thrown at it, and he is still struggling for top 10s? I can understand that from Haslam (with all due respect) but Alvaro is ex top 5 in Moto GP... I hope that big fat HRC paycheck is good enough for his retirement!
Shame BMW still seem to be a step back. VdMarc was showing some brilliance I thought, but you can just see that something's not there machinewise.

I thought WSB was starting to get better but it's shit. It seemed to go off the boil around 2013 or so.
Getting sick of this tyre business in WSB and Motogp.

On our little island the MotoGP used be just on terrestrial TV Monday until BT came along. WSBK has always been live. The highlights Sunday started 1/2 hour later than advertised, on VM anyway.
If anyone hasnt seen it on TV they should avoid the race thread.
Agreed with the Honda, its not progressing at all compared to the others. Same as in MotoGP. Even the new BMW is ahead of it. Whats going on in Japan?
