No, its not about the Israeli - Palestine war, nor Brexit, something far worse has happened. No, not Moto E either. This: The new Yamaha R7! And its a fucking 689cc twin.... Stop the world, I want to get off.

As much as it pains me to say this, but the Mr The Toe Cutter's Younger Brother should be banned for spreading viscous and treasonous rumours about the R7. Despite the fact that what he says is true and I confirmed them myself. Where's Eduardo? He needs to cleanse all evidence that this topic ever existed. Perhaps if we don't talk about it then it won't happen.

Nothing wrong with a 700cc twin as such, maybe a bit vibey but they can have balance shafts for that, more suited to non sports bikes. But to call it an R7, possibly one of the best Japanese sports bikes in history is... is.... is.... *head explodes*.

To be fair, Yamaha have got previous for releasing bikes that no cunt wants. It's kind of their thing.

TRX800 was a bit odd. The TDM800 was a good use for the engine. I'd buy something like that if I was going to get back into bikes. Who needs 1000cc 160 BHP sportbikes for the road. The TDM got a slagging for its name as it sounded like tedium by those wanting power power power.

When I saw the 700 vtwin I thought that maybe it was going to be an ultra stripped down lightweight creature like the Ducati supermono, but it looks like it will just be a faired mt07.

The original R7 is still my favourite road bike ever to look at. What a total waste of a good name. I'm rapidly going off Yamaha.

I rode my mate's TRX not long after he got it and I thought that the riding position was a bit strange, but it was only after he dropped during a tour of France in 2010, that he discovered that someone had fitted the clip-ons to the opposite positions; i.e. left on right, right on left! The previous owner must've thought that by swapping them over, it would make the bike a bit more comfortable, but it also had the effect of tilting the bars inboard. It wasn't by a huge amount, but it just didn't feel right. Once we had swapped the bars back to where they were supposed to be, you got a lot more feedback from the chassis.

The problem was started by Aprilia.
Trying to claim that their "middle-weight" 4 stroke sporty thing is somehow related to the old RS250. Yeah, right.
Yamaha have jumped on the bandwagon it seems.
So what's next? a sleeved down SV650 with a powerbronze belly pan and call it an RG500?
An ER5 with plastics called a KR1-S?
There could be no end to this madness.

Well if you want to save the world, this is what you end up with.
Old 600s making 110hp+ can't meet emissions it seems. The 650 twins can't seem to crack 80hp and even the Cbr650 only has about 95hp and slightly less torque than it did in 1993. Progress.
There is now very little ground between sports bikes you'll maybe get bored of and shit that is too bonkers for the road. I was talking to this chap who traded his s1000RRRRR in for GSR750. He said the BMW, even in full electronics mode was no fun to ride on the road and would lift the front if you looked at the throttle.
OK there are lots of 1000s and 750s and 600s of a type out there but most them aren't sports bikes now, they are aging rider bikes. I tried the VFR and it was too old man style for me despite the fact it was still a quick thing if wanted it to be. I know the RC is slow as fuck but I've just come to work on it pretending I was in Motogp and going round bends with my head by my mirror. I fucking love sports bikes.
All we are really seeing is something to encourage people to buy another bike. It's a bit like 29ers and 650b in MTB. A fear years back I'd just watched some cunt win the MTB championship on 26s when supposedly they were obselete. If that cunt could beat the worlds best why do normal people 'need' 650s or 29s. The don't but it sure sold a lot of bikes when they moved over.
Maybe that SV650 I've been looking at isn't a daft buy. The age of the inline 4 appears to be doomed.

Does anyone even know any cunt that bought a GTS1000? What a fucking monstrosity that was. BMW K1....CX500....having said that, I’d have a CX500 for the nostalgia, takes me back to when one of my mates owned one in the 80’s. But the K1 is just hideous.
