Seen a few of these vids where someone makes a 3D printed head or one out of wood etc. I've always thought that JB weld was shit. Every time I've seen someone try to fix a casing with it, it has not worked at all.

I've used JB Weld for temporary repairs to windsurf boards, just small dings not large gaping holes or cracks. I think its epoxy resin with metal in it. I usually use Araldite (also epoxy) for those quick repairs until I can be bothered to buy some proper slow cure epoxy resin & fibreglass. A lot of times when the temporary repair fails I just do another temporary repair as buying fresh epoxy resin is quite expensive as it only comes in 250ml containers as a minimum & I only need a fraction of that. The JB Weld seems to last longer than Araldite, its tough stuff. Maybe its more UV stable than Araldite. But like anything which needs repairing, the surface must be roughed up a bit for it to stick to.

Isn't JB Weld essentially the same as Devcon? Used that for reshaping 2-stroke transfer ports in the past.

Devcon. Now that's something I have not heard of in years.

One thing I am jealous of Americans for is they still seem to have a more hands-on culture when it comes to fixing stuff. I watch these videos and the 'hardware store' has literally every fucking thing you could ever want. This country has devolved to very specialist shops, mostly online and even though still with bricks and mortar are order to collect and never have stock. I wanted some of those hex extractors, Eurocarparts has them listed but then it's will arrive in 13 days. Fuck that. I went out yesterday and nobody even had spring compressors in stock.
Then again all American seem to have massive fucking garages bigger than your local Kwikfit.

There seems to be a downward trend of the availability of both of those between the USA - UK - Europe In the US more people have big garages, and most people clock off work on time and have their weekends to themselves, in the UK a lot of people do at least have a small garage or a shed / garden and don't work stupid hours in general, in Europe though, everyone lives in a flat with no space whatsoever and thinks they are the CEO of the comapny and work 13 hours a day and weekends. So no wonder the levels of DIY are proportional. Most Spanish people I speak to are absolutely astounded that I service and repair my own bike. The thought of doing the valve clearances on a GSXR is like rocket science to most!
