It's ok now. She's trying to look all 'western'. No doubt she's twerking to WAP and being all fem-powered as we speak. All they needed to do de-radicalize her was straighten her hair and give her a t-shirt and sunglasses.

No need for any sad woke references. This is the most civilised country on earth and we concede no moral high ground. On one hand, a child was duped with chums to follow the most ridiculous of paths. Her friends and three children snuffed it probably in grim circumstances. Any girl on your street would get your sympathy having gone through similar. However, on the other hand, she chose to go to engage in activities known to be intentionally harmful to the country that homed her. On balance, and its not close, the severity of her actions outweighs her particular circumstances. The door is closed. I gave her my time to consider this which is not what she would have had elsewhere. If we can't make an example of her, we might as well not bother. Moral of the story, tone down religious beliefs. I question the statement that the UK is the most civilised country on Earth. Maybe it appears civilised compared to tinpot regimes but the UK has poverty and wealth in equal measures. The Begum girl is a UK citizen therefore she should be tried here and punished here. How is she any other country’s responsibility? That's fair enough but are certainly top tier in terms of being civilised. It is a complete mess.

...she chose to go to engage in activities known to be intentionally harmful to the country that homed her. What was the nature of her "choice"? Did she get up one day and go "I'm all about the beheading now"? Was she groomed and radicalised? If so from what age and by whom? Was it online or local? What part did religious belief play in it? Had she in fact been brainwashed since childhood like many religious extremists? More importantly, why don't our security services want to ask these questions? And how were three children even able to travel to Syria from the UK? And what do you mean by "country that homed her"? This suggests we took her in and looked after her. Do you see a brown terrorism fan and assume refugee? She was born in England. She's as English as Morris dancing, cream tea and casual racism. You need to be careful what you wish for. The UK currently has a dangerously far right Home Secretary. Black people who came here as children and know no other country are being regularly deported to countries they don't know because they committed a crime. Revoking citizenship without due process or trial because a brown person is deemed a terrorist. We saw police charging into a peaceful vigil/protest by defenceless women at the weekend. Jackboots and batons. Mekon probably wanked himself into a coma watching it but is that the Britain you want to live in? The bill currently going through parliament will make that an appropriate response to any protest in England and Wales. I'm not defending Shemima Begum because I don't know what she's responsible for and neither do you. I am, however extremely suspicious of the decision not to bring her back to the UK and the Daily Mail type dog whistling wank fest foamy spunk bath party that followed the decision is somewhat unsavoury.

This forum used to be brilliant mix of humour and satire even when politics was the subject. Some very dark and extremely dubious stances are sadly tainting what was once an oasis of mirth in a fucked up world . Get a fucking grip you cunts. You are better than this.

Forums are dead this as good as it gets before you either resort to real conversation or think of your best one-liner for Twitter.

She appeared to made it all the way to the airport without being escorted. If there was any duress, there were opportunities to ask for help along the way. I meant the country that homed her in the context that it is also the same that homes me. Nothing else.
