I watched FP1 on live timing and it was very close etween the top 6 until Chaz put in a hot lap. Good to see ELav up there again.

It was an interesting couple of laps to start R1, I thought Sykes might get away with Davies and Rea scrapping. Davies' pass on Sykes was a bit cheeky, good to see he hasnt been affected by his Misano crash.
R2 could be interesting with the new grid rules. Will Rea be in the lead after lap 1 or 2 again from the 3rd row at this track? I cant see Melandri winning as he was 17 seconds down in R1, or will it force him to try harder? ELav penalised for his crash, in SP he was 5th, now 10th for R2.

Race 2 was painfully dull. The R1 race was exciting by comparison and that is not saying much.

Sykes in 2nd place by turn 1 and Rea putting in a couple of passes by the end of the lap was pretty exciting. They both had to ride the bike after all, but then it was a drawn out exercise in Rea knocking off consistent laps until the flag. Melandri was outclassed, the Yamahas suffered from some front end issue but at least they provided some entertainment with Bradl.

If you wanted to send Sykes fanmail, would his address be 'Jonathan Rea's pocket'?

I thought that Gange did quite well considering that the US Fireblade is probably more stock than a WSB Superstocker (I'm guessing here, I don't know what level the bikes are at!). Considering Gange racing history, it highlights what a sad state US racing was in before Rainey took took over the reins. If he was Spanish, Jake would be in MotoGP by now, with sponsors tripping over themselves to get a slice!
It's interesting that as soon as Ten Kate put Nicky's settings into Bradl's 'blade, the German went 1s a lap quicker!
Race 1 was pretty good, but Race 2 was extremely predictable as soon as JR got to the front.
BTW, I never tire of watching bikes riding around Laguna Seca.

MotoAmerica Superbike rules are much changed for this year. Bikes are now running racing suspension front and rear and non stock swingingarms. Not sure on engine/electrics package though? WSB is boring as f### right now. We need to see Camier on a better bike and Honda need to seriously up their game and give Ten Kate some real technical support. Bin Superstock 1000 and WSS and have a new big capacity naked class in their place. Forget the Saturday racing for Superbikes and have two SSP300 races, one on a Saturday after all qualifying is completed for all classes. Then have two Superbike races, two Naked class races and one SSP 300 race. Have Superbikes use the same chassis rules as now but run a completely stock engine and electronics package.
