Apart from the top fairing piece it looks pretty much the same as it has been since 2011 to me. I know there were so small updates to it in 2016 but it is largely the same bike.

Wait until they paint it green. It will go like fuck then.
Tbh I really want Rea to lose this year. He risks killing interest if the newer riders still can't do anything about him.

Rea will smile and nod, say all the right things etc., but inside, if Kawasaki hasn't upgraded the engine on the RR variant, he will be bitterly disappointed.

Rea and his bike have not exactly struggled to fend off the title challenges from Bautista and Scott though have they?
Better to stay with the known and working formula than risk bringing an all new machine which doesn't work. Especially considering that there is no real new threat on the horizon, only Scott wth a year under his belt on the V4 is likely to trouble him, even if he was onn the 2020 bike IMHO.
Nobody else (likely to challenge for the title) is bringing a new bike either.

It's funny how sport bike development has changed over the years. It wasn't too long ago that the 1000cc flagship models were regularly completely updated every three to four years. Yamaha did that after two years with the 2007 model R1. I think there was a 2004-2006 model that was largely the same and then the 2007-2008 bike was completely new and then the 2009 model complete ground up redesign once more. That one lasted until 2015 though. I'm not against gradual updates and improvements over wholesale redesign though.

It looks wunderbar in that livery, but it's honking in green.
