This Greta thing, if anyone asked me about putting something inflammatory up on the internet about her my opinion would be best to leave it out. There are better ways of getting your own point across. Belittlement is a moral high ground conceder.

It wasn't totally directed at you Pants but it is a leap that is made far too often these days. It works in reverse though also. People are quick to label you a snowflake if you aren't cool with them for making uneducated assumptions. Whether you're for or against isn't going to offend me in the slightest. I'd still go for a beer with you or anyone else on here. Except MasonMart. Cheers Droog Masonmart is a cunt and probably drinks creme de menthe

My young brother has Aspergers. Wasn't diagnosed until he was 40. Poor cunt spent his entire life getting criticised and mocked for saying and doing ostensibly stupid things that he couldn't control.
We can have a grown-up discussion about whether it's okay to criticise someone in that position for something that's more than likely a result of their condition, like failing to answer a question. Personally I don't think it's okay and I have some knowledge of the condition. However, criticism is one thing, taking the piss out of someone for having a disability is cretinous behaviour.
And I'd go for a pint with Mason. I'd have a 1952 Macallan when it was his round though. A fucking double.

Like her or not, she attracted a lot of followers.
We didn't see much in that clip, what went on before? Was she 'interrogated' by the journos? None of the other 5 sitting there chipped in with anything, positive or negative.
Why has BJ announced that new petrol/diesel vehicles wont be on sale 2030 onwards? Why has BJ announced wind farms are the way forward? Not so long ago the Tories said if anyone objected about a wind farm on the landscape they could shout it down. Are they after the green/younger supporters vote?
Is Greta the catalyst?
During spring lockdown, in many countries air pollution dropped, skies were clearer, the pictures from space showed that up. The world didnt cool down. Too little for too shorter time? Global warming is happening, I believe its a natural variation in temperature which we are adding heat to. Lockdown in winter when Europe turns on the gas fired central heating wont do much for pollution levels.

We've come a long way from the smog filled images of the industrial mill towns but you're spot on about the lockdown clean up Phil. One area in China about 10 miles from mountains was so polluted that during lockdown when the air pollution cleared they saw the mountains for the first time in about 40 years. The hydrogen fuel cell power is taking some time to develop. I reckon the mighty oil companies are blocking clean progress like their lives depended on it.

I use methanol fuel cells on site. They're horrifically expensive and you don't get that much power out of them. The fuel cell itself costs £7k and will last around a year before its output starts to degrade. They're quite fragile too. Methanol will cost around £300 per month if you deploy it without PV. All this for a constant output around 80W.
Storage is the key. Maybe not batteries but pumped storage is a decent option. If you want to develop offshore wind to massive levels then you need to be able to access that energy when wind speeds are low. You also need to control over-capacity while reducing the need to compensate generators for having to shut down.
Nuclear isn't the answer. It's far too expensive and the pollution is unacceptable. Hinkley Point C is now estimated at £22bn and will likely continue to rise. It has a strike price of £92.50/MWh guaranteed for 35 years. In comparison, the latest round of offshore wind came in at around £40/MWh guaranteed for only 15 years.
The money being spunked on Hinkley would go a very long way to developing storage technology and infrastructure for a future of renewable generation.

I see your point about storage for wind and solar power but what about wave and tidal power? Much more constant which lowers the need for storage.
The need for major power stations should be diminishing now and aim for much more localised generation. Ground and air source pumps, solar panels in all homes should be the future aim.

The problem with wave and tidal is massive investment for little return. Yes the energy is more constant but there's not a lot of it. This is the same for all new technology however and investment/production will drive down costs as it has for wind and solar. Wind and solar are here now though and are cheap. If you see any new builds they've all got PV panels on the roof (by law in Scotland) but they're just not big enough. Ground source heat pumps would be a better idea but let's not get too carried away. If cunts rely less on the big national energy providers I'll be out of a fucking job.

A good place to look up info on renewables, solar, wind, nuclear, ICE, batteries etc, id to follow twitter.com/AukeHoekstra on Twitter. proper backed up stuff. Has already debunked ADACs claim the EV are as dirty as ICE. A funny thing, everyone is going mental aboute altenative and that is a hoax and crap, yet have turned a blind eye to the oil industry for year and years. The amount of money the oil industry spend on giving the alternative a bad rep is staggering. Even Exxon knew haw bad is was going to get, yet did nothing. How many BP excecs went to prison over the mexican gulf disaster? Also lobbying secrecy. Example, the amout of electricity used refine oil to fuel in the UK and USA is classified. I wonder why. I drive a diesel, have two motorbikes and a tuned mini so not really a green nutter.I'm against land base wind turbines here in Norway, a huge tax scam. Just got to start somewhere and the speed tech is evolving, who knows in 10 years time?

Not sure about the BJ announcement v reality....but tech is moving quick so you never know. Just think about all the future bikers who will have to ride characterless electric motorcycles...

I'd have an electric car or motorcycle tomorrow if I could afford them. Nothing to do with being green, I like the torque of an electric motor. If there was a good goverment subsidy to pay for converting my old (or some sort of trade in for a secondhand EV) petrol car, I'd be all over it.
