Only just realised today's date. Was working a night-shift the previous night but had to be up in the early afternoon to take a call about a mortgage application. Watched it unfold live. Called a friend as it was happening. Still probably the most mental thing I have ever witnessed happening live. Although Waco was a close second.

We were at work and people started saying America was under attack, the Internet at work was fucked and the BBC wouldn't load and when it did it did say something America under attack!
Told the girlfriend we were going home and got in to see the two towers on fire and new York engulfed in a smoke clowd. Then the fucking towers came down and it was just beyond belief. We just sat there literally without words. I just knew a war would follow.

It was a jaw dropping day for sure. Don’t know what was most shocking, seeing the second plane crash into the 2nd tower whilst watching it unfold live or the poor souls jumping from the floors above.
Bush almost immediately announced that the culprit was Osama Bin Laden yet it transpired that although all planes were immediately grounded, one flew members of the Bin Laden family out of the states. The conspiracies began.
Next thing the invasion of Iraq. We’ll never know the truth that’s for sure.
