Having bought some tasty leathers which are better sized for my middle age spread than my previous set, I've now been out for a few "spirited" rides and discovered that even being more comfortable, they still stick to my legs in the summer heat when trying to move around on the bike.
Last time out I put on some cheapy "technical motorcycling underwear" essentially long johns, bought years ago from Lidl. As could be expected, they're not great, being too thick, although I could see the advantage of having something below the knee as that's where the leathers stick most.
So what's the best option for bottom half base layers without spending more than I did on the leathers? Looking for something for the bottom half only, no onesies, and very, very thin material (I didn't factor in leggings when I bought the leathers sadly).

Summer heat? What the fuck's that?
I'm an expert on staying warm and dry if that's any help.

Check out 'sub' base layers. I have a couple of tops and shorts. They claim to cover warm and cold options. If not going to be seen you can go for any rancid colour to keep the price down.

I've been using Helly Henson LIFA quick drying long johns and long sleeve tops base layers for years for; motorcycling, hiking, running and climbing. They are quite thin, but perfect for spring, summer and autumn rides and they retail for about £35 each.

Summer heat? What the fuck's that? It's that sticky sensation you get in Thailand sometimes. Oh no, wait that came out wrong, I didn't mean that...

No. I meant sub sports. Its tough stuff despite being thin. I often wear the shorts when on the rollers. No wear and tear.
