Was that a disaster for Redding or was it mature damage limitation? Still can't make my mind up.

Who knows. Tyres just died but Davies was also miles off. He's obviously got the pace but needs the distance.

Back to normal for Rea.
Privateer Go-Eleven Ducati Rinaldi was doing consistent laps until he caught Redding up which slowed him down. Once passed his times went back to previous times. So its not a 'Ducati' problem like they were saying on Eurosport.

Well that was sort of expected. Didn't expect the Ducati to get so hammered in the first 2 races though. Good recovery by Redding for 2nd in race 3 though.
So what's the problem with the Blade? Can't be Bautista being slow as even when he was falling off last year he was still fast.

With the better performances by Redding & Davies in the last race, was it a case of they mucked something up in the earlier races?

Dunno. Redding just said in the last race that they changed some settings and it worked. Guess they can't use Bautista's data for Redding as he's a midget.

You'd think Davies would provide some data that would be of use, but it did seem that the team just about saved the situation today. Redding did well to hold off Vdmark. Toprak did well considering he crashed! Three of the points scorers had crashed in fact!

Looking like yet another season where everyone has a crash trying to run Rea's pace all season long, Redding made a great start and got away a bit, but the pressure is on now that Rea is in remorseless mode.
Its an intriguing WSBK, is he going to see off another ex Moto GP man.

Aragon next, so Redding knows that one?

The general vibe seemed to be that Jonnie is pretty unstoppable at Portimao so it was always going to be a bit of damage limitation for Scott. I don't think Aragon will be anything like this weekend and I wouldn't be surprised to see Scott back on top of the championship come the end of race 2.

Absolutely, Eddie. I have nothing against Jonnie, but runaway championships aren't as interesting to watch as a close one. Also I would rather watch Scott backing it in and being a bit more animated on the bike than Jonnie, I know it takes uber skill to ride like Rea, but it is so clinical and so tight that it's just not as exciting to watch, (IMHO of course).

Yes, that was the general feeling of the experts on DAZN. Seems plausible. Joan Lascorz went as far as saying he'd bet on Rea nota being leader after Aragon.
