I swear something cunts were socially distancing their cars in the petrol station queue today. Usually everyone is up each other's arses but they were queuing into the road for no reason I could see. Being a cunt on my motorbike I just rode to front. Most of the thick cunts couldn't use the pay at pump function either as they were too scared to use the keypad or something. You could take all this to the nth degree and some obviously are. If I don’t have gloves handy I make sure I don’t touch my face and wash my hands when I get in. Mind you, under the current restrictions I think I got 2 months out if the last tank of fuel so it’s not like I’m filling up every week. I’m not taking this lightly but my girlfriend, unfortunately...or fortunately depending on your personal opinion, is a bit of a clean freak anyway so this whole Covid19 malarkey is , in a way, a Godsend to her!...if you get my drift.

Hands up if you are one of those weirdos who rounds up to the nearest pound at self service petrol stations? A strange breed...

Where filling up is concerned I just put in whatever amount of fuel I need for the week. Used to be £20 but now it is £30. I have no idea what the cost of petrol is either. I always use pay at pump and even though I have OCD, I don't try too hard to hit the exact amount. Always use premium fuel. Never basic.

Bikes = Premium fuel. Always.
Cars = Basic. But I've never had a high performance car to warrant it.
I never felt the need to shell out for premium on the car - its a significant price diff and adds up alot over the course of a year. I think modern engines are designed to be fine running on the cheap stuff?

I tested out the theory of 98 against 95 on my bike because sadly I use it virtually entirely for commuting.
95 is cheaper and did less miles per tank, 98 more expensive and more miles per tank. But doing the maths after three tanks of each showed that the cost per mile was exactly the fucking same.
In the good old days of two strokes I could feel the difference between 98 and 95 or whatever they called them back then, my RGV only ever had premium fuel in it, but 4 strokes aren't so fussy.

You only really need 98 RON fuel if you have a high compression ratio (skimmed head, etc) as it reduces pre-detonation. The only real advantages with using premium fuel is that it may contain other beneficial additives but you'd probably want to see some independent confirmation of that.
I tend to avoid using supermarket fuel, particularly diesel. Happy to pay a couple of % extra for a brand nane.

I did see some hp test on different fuels and it was fuck all. Only one fuel produced anything of note, think it was shell and they said you'd only be able to tell a difference either flat out racing or trackday.

I buy premium for the additional cleaning additives. Mind you, I tend to buy a bottle of Redex once a year when it is on offer for £2. Probably better just buying cheap fuel and doing the Redex. Don't use Redex too often though as it can damage the injectors.

Don't use Redex too often though as it can damage the injectors. Didn't know this. Diesel and petrol? I also tend to buy it when it's on offer but fucked injectors are not a cheap fix.

Both. It can lead to premature wear if used too often. I'd say once a year or every 10,000 miles. Whichever is sooner.

I ran some redex dpf cleaner as all sorts of soot was dirtying up my boot and it worked.

Any cyclists in their 50s finding that an ever sagging bawsack is becoming a bit of an obstacle? Sometimes I yearn for the simplicity of a fanny.

Well, I'm now not suffering the gentelman's early morning piss. Is that down to reduced stress, better health, less fat or what?
