Having done it in a car I say fuck that unless you are actually REALLY good at riding. If you're not fast you'll just get mullered by BMWs and fuckers in hot Golfs all day long and spend most of the lap riding on the right. In real life you can usually crush most fuckers in fast cars but this place is different, people are VERY fast.
The place is also pretty unforgiving in terms of coming off, it narrower than you imagine and lines with barriers that are nearer than you'd like. Fine for cars but I'd not bother on a bike as I don't think my skills are enough to actually get a clean lap in. The first time my mate went a bloke lost the front and went into the barriers Ollie Bridewell style and died.
Not that I'm putting anyone off or anything...

I went around the Nurbergring once. I nearly fell off a couple of corners in on a damp patch under some trees as there had been a shower not long before I went out. The surface was polished smooth and covered in caterpillar shit. The guy from Finland who I was chatting to at the cafe fell off at that place. He just had a broken indicator and a few scrapes. Other cars/bikes came hammering passed. It was the scariest time I had on that bike. I had put cheapo fairings/seat, ditched all the lights etc and done loads of trackdays on it. Imagine doing all that and dropping it at low speed on the 'ring. I remember checking on my insurance before I went and it just said I was covered for all official roads, which the 'ring is. Its worth checking the small print before any trip abroad. IIRC, some polices just cover you TPO abroad even if you have fully comp in the UK. Some you have to ring and tell them the countries and dates of the trip for you to be covered fully comp, otherwise you will just be covered TPO.
