Some perverse weirdness is dragging me towards a gt535, interceptor or classic.
Anyone actually ridden the 500cc/535?
The new 650s seem to be getting solid reviews as triumph leveller but not beater but great for the money.

Due to my delirious state I misread your post and for some reason thought you were talking about getting one of these:
I was also going to say you will be buying Back Street Heroes which would have made no sense either lol.

I saw an Enfield in Thailand a few weeks ago and it looked stunning in the sunlight. Can imagine it looking quite tatty in no time in this shitty climate.

Going back few years I looked at going to India for a holiday doing an organised tour. They all had these as they are made over there. If they broke down, anyone could fix them. They probably still do.
Back a few more years, 2003 , friend of a friend used to import VW campervans from Oz (Brisbane area, very little rainfall and corrosion), the split screen 1970's type. He replaced stuff like the rubbers around windscreens as they had perished due to UV and sold them on. High on nostalgia, low on brakes and steering etc. People had got used to servo assisted everything. A lot of people sold them on.
I guess the Enfield would be like that, under performing in every area, but would be ok for pottering around on, at low speeds.

Part of me just thinks fuck it, buy one and I'm still a biker without being a terrorising cunt overtaking all. Part of me thinks fuck that, I get a decent cbr600rr for 3500 and I'm buying lawnmower tech in the Royal enfield. Then again I can fix most enfield problems whereas the Honda is probably a cunt.

We sold a few around 6 years ago now and they looked as though they were held together with prit-stik. The new range though are quite nice and we're considering taking them on again once the local franchised dealer 'retires'
Still wouldn't be seen dead on one like...
