Very strange situation. You cant expect the riders to turn up for FP1 and clean the track. You dont see a time difference of 7s a lap from FP1 to FP3 when its dry. Did the wind blow a load of dirt onto the surface just before the meeting? Do they have road sweepers in that part of the country? From what Chaz said the the rise in temperature caused oil to rise out of the track - some parts were relayed after it tore up last year. Leon Camier saying some teams were going to fine riders if they didnt race. ELav saying all but Bautista and Rinaldi said they wouldn't race, but then they did race. The FIM signed it off as fit to race but it wasnt fit to race as the tarmac was shite. You could see from Haslam's and Baz's practise crashes highsiding on closed throttles the track was in a poor state. I'd say lucky nobody (apart from Baz breaking his wrist) was injured, so far.

Hmmm... what a mess. Only just watched on catchup and what a shambles. Funny when Laverty said Rea was spineless!
I guess the problem is that nobody actually crashed so in some sense they boycotters where proved wrong? From a non-racer's point of view, what's the difference to going out in wet? Surely it's less dangerous? Or not?

i think the fact that R1 went ahead without incident makes the Villicum 6 look a bit silly, then again the solidarity between riders shown initially didn’t last long....

Don't know the ins and outs of it but if Rea told them he was with them regarding boycotting the race and then went and got changed and raced, then he deserves criticism.

Rea's excuse or one of them was poor Argentina, the people deserve a race to cheer them up.
The real villains are Dorna, the FIM and the track builders.

The real villains are Dorna, the FIM and the track builders. Add the circuit owners to the list. They had to resurface parts of the track after it fell apart last year but didnt get it done until too late, hence the oil rising out of the track issue. Maybe it was down to money, they couldnt afford it, being a new circuit. The crowd last year was 80,000 over the weekend, this year 51,000. If the crowd was down in size on Sunday due to the issues, its cost them.

Well unless they've got some iron-clad contract I can't see Argentina on the menu next year. Plenty of other circuits to run at.

Seems they have a 3 year contract. Hopefully they will get the issues sorted as it looks a decent track and a 51,000 crowd makes some other countries attendance look paltry.

If Tati Mercado isn't racing next year there's no point them going back to Argentina. The crowd would be tiny if he wasn't there.
And if wsbk does have to go to Argentina why not use the same circuit as MotoGP as that must be in way better condition.

I always understood that the circuits pay Dorna to hold the race? That's certainly the case in MGP.

More technical and easier to get there too. Apparently.
