Got this daft idea in my head seeing as I've seen ex moto3 bikes for £5k or so. Imagine how cool you'd be turning up to a meet on one of those.
Obviously the MOT side just needs a brake light, speedo and horn to be bare bones, daytime MOT legal but can you actually get a race bike that's never been a road bike onto the road? I'm guessing maybe it would need to pass single vehicle type approval to apply for V5? Do race bike frame even have serial numbers?
Years ago my mate did some sham with a race supermoto that involved nicking a frame number he came across on an american KTM on his hols and claiming it was an import road bike after he'd re-stamped the frame (he originally went to register the original no. he had and was told the no. was already taken so fuck off). Him and his old man are always up to shams with vintage bikes as they have a proper workshop with all the machinery for tinkering.

KEEP IT FOOLISH! Don't like those KTMs. Look pretentious somehow. I'd rather get a VFR400 with a Tyga fairing kit.

Just got 12 months MOT on the VFR750 and may sell as it's all great and competent but it just ain't me somehow. Want something sporty but not cookie cutter or Timmy's first sports bike like the KTM.

very short service on Moto3 engines, think the cranks are 2000 kms but are changed at lower distance to be on the safeside. Have to buy gearbox gogs for first and second and a massive sprocket on the rear or your clutch wil be gone quickly

Then there's the bump starting problem............
A mate of mine is close to putting a classic BMW kneeler outfit on the road. Will definitely turn a few heads but unless he paints it Dyno Rod colours he'll be virtually invisible on the road as it'll be half the height of a car.

Hmmm...had completely forgotten the engine being a short life thing factor, plus other inconviences. Maybe Phil's idea is actually the better one seeing as you can get Tyga fairings for the KTM. Maybe I should look out for one that some herbert has put into a hedge or something so it's cosmetically fucked but structurally ok.
Saw a lovely RG125FUN for sale a while back. It was collection only from remote part of fucking Scotland though but I did get the feels as it was my first bike and this one was a rebuilt minter. I reckon I'd have to buy it as well as another bike though as I seem to remember constantly wanting to get on a faster bike when I owned one. Would be cool to rock up at the cafe on though.
I was a Sherburn bike cafe a few weeks back and we saw a couple of RGV250s and I was getting excited for them to fire up but when they did they sounded like shit on standard cans. Very disappointing, put me off wanting one tbh given the prices they fetch.

But with a set of after markets, they do sound gorgeous.

The KTM 390 do look good, but if I was going for a racebike for the road it would be a Aprilia RS250, Suzuki 250 or Honda NSR250. There again way too fast :-)
Really having to keep calm as I'm riding a RS125 atm as my XR600 is broken. Thing goes like stink, just can't help dropping down 2 gears and feeling the kick from 8 to 11000 rpm :-)
