Currently up on the north coast of Scotland..about 50 miles from JOG...riding the NC500 (most of it) and it hasn’t disappointed. We’re blessed with the weather, but I’m blown away by the scenery....I’ve only ever been as far as Inverness so this is all new to me...what an incredible place. We rode up the west coast...two days ride from Loch Lomond...stopping at Gairloch and now Bettyhill....heading back down the east coast to Inverness where the NC500 officially starts/finishes...so we’ve missed out the east to west bit from Inverness to Applecross. We’ll then head down through the Cairngorms and then to the Borders.
The good weather has obviously made a difference because some of the single lane roads on the west side would be “interesting” if it had been pissing down!!..but for the most part the roads are great , endless sweeping turns and hardly any traffic.
The distances can be deceiving though, 50 miles can take 1.5hrs on the single lanes, so I think that if we were to do it again we”d plan one more day at least. All in all, I’d put this is one of , if not the best road trips I’ve ever done..

The Cairngorms are stunning. Travelling in Scotland is very similar to Norway... "Oh, it's just up the road!"... my arse!

Riding from Inverness to Morpeth tomorrow.....Cairngorms via Gairnshiel and Blairgowrie then down to Edinburgh bypass and on to borders route via the A68 and A697...it’s been a blast!

Any photos?
There were a few times I had a look at going touring to Scotland but the average weather put me off, same for Scandinavia. Looks a stunning place. I've got as far north as Isle of Skye and Inverness in the past when I didnt have a bike.

I've got as far north as Isle of Skye and Inverness in the past when I didnt have a bike. First two are Isle of Skye from the top of Bealach na Ba...and Kylesku Bridge crossing Loch a Chairn Bhain. Stunning beach at Durness and the A93 going through the Cairngorms... Sunset at Bettyhill on the north coast and another of the same bridge...

Nice pics, the place would be packed if it was like that all the time.

Nice pics, the place would be packed if it was like that all the time. True....even in May it can be difficult to get accommodation. The hotels we stayed at all said that the impact of the NC500 has seen a big increase in visitor numbers over the last few years and they were now opening earlier in the year and closing later..I wouldn’t want to do it in summer though...there would be too many motorhomes and buses clogging up the roads.
