It's been mooted before by members of this forum but I'd really like to do a season of low level, cost efficient, club racing before I become too decrepit. I know nothing about club racing or classes but there must be a something daft out there for us to do? Moped endurance racing would be ideal. Anyone else interested in doing something? I'm thinking maybe three meetings across a year.

Sounds like a good idea Droog if you can solve the problem of time poverty. That is my main problem to everything these days rather than not being able to actually afford stuff. My only possible contribution would be photography if it was something not too far away.
YOLO!!

I will be starting to build my new shed soon.Think I will buy something soon after. Is putting a tuned 160cc pit bike engine in a stepthru cheating?

My mate Nick Jordan races C90's...Says its just one long laugh all weekend. I watched them at Mallory last year and it does look fun to be fair...I'm like Mekon though. I barely get time to masturbate, let alone spend whole weekend drinking and racing bikes.

Same here but I think I can get three weekends a year to myself.

I suppose when you put it like that it would be daft not to put a shift in for at least 1 weekend...Whats your plan then?

I did the 50cc Endurance championship for about 4 years. It is indeed a great laugh and very competitive. We ran Kawasaki AR50s in the air cooled class with some success, we won the class championship once and came in as runners up another year. One team were disqualified for running a big bore kit, they weren't even winning at the time and they said they thought that everyone was doing it given how fast we were. You really need a good tuner to be competitive.
The top class (liquid cooled) got really competitive around 2001, 2002 when the availability of used RS125 frames and chassis meant that anything road bike based was never going to win. But these guys were spending thousands on their bikes.
Two things put me off returning to it (apart from the fact that I haven't lived in the UK for 13 years), one is the cost, even racing small bikes is quite expensive when you factor in the petrol to get to the circuit, petrol for the bike, spares, tyres, helmets, clothes etc. The other is how much it hurts when you fall off!
At Ty Croes we reckon we hitting around 75 - 80 mph on the straight, it doesn't matter what you are riding, falling off hurts!

Plan is to find a class that appeals. Purchase a bike and fettle it. Get an old van. Put a mattress in it, forget about going racing and become the South East branch of Vazy kidnapping Realistically I'm looking at next year. I see they race those supermoto pitbikes on kart tracks which would be a simple option. But I prefer doing something two stroke if possible as I enjoyed tuning them and have a bit of experience. Ideally something along the lines of what Clipper did but with no intention of being competitive or throwing cash at it. It would be more about having some fun and getting away for a weekend but pissing around with bikes.

How's about pitbike racing, you can even throw knobblies on them and race off road too.
