ELav on pole vd Mark 5th, his best qualifying of the year. Davies looks off form with his busted up collar bone.

This is beyond tedious now. I just record it, watch till about lap 3 and fast forward a minute at a time unless anything looks like it's about to happen. Doesn't help matters that everyone in WSB seemed to cripple themselves over summer.
I hope Bautista smashes Rea next year.

Watched race 2....half decent scrap until Rea got to the front....I hope the new Panigale V4 with Davies and Bautista onboard can take it to Rea next season.

R2 was better, vd Mark's double pass on the Dukes when they ran a bit wide was an eye opener, thought he was going way too fast.

That was about as boring as motorcycle racing can get. Once ELav went out, I switched off and had it on in the background. Rea is a trophy hunting cunt.

Thing is even top brass know Rea is the problem and said he lacks charisma. If Rossi retired to Wsb and broke all records it would go down better. JR has the personality of a plank now he's not a plucky charger on a cheap bike.

Never been a big fan of Rea as he is a dullard. But I was genuinely happy he won a title or two as he spent years riding his bollox off on a mediocre package. But he should have moved on by now to MotoGP. Series organisers could and would have placed him in a good team. No he wasn't getting a factory Yamaha, Honda or Ducati but he doesn't deserve one. The Suzuki option would have been a good move.
Mind you Kawasaki are just as much to blame. It may be a WSB team and bike but they have MotoGP level resources. They could re enter MotoGP with that team and Rea.
People moan about Fogarty not going to GP but he did everything he could to get there. Filled in for Chilli on the NSR500 despite the team not wanting him and refusing to adjust anything on the bike in 1990. Only left when the team started to actively make life even harder for him. Rode privateer bikes at short notice for no money or very little money in 1992. Offered to sign with Suzuki for a salary of £0.02 in 1992. Rode the Cagiva at Donington in 1993 and 94 (went home semi injured in 94 but actually he did not want to ride as the team had him on a development fuel injected bike that was awful) despite this interfering with his WSB campaigns. Signed with Kenny Roberts even though Kenny had no Yamaha deal in place. Kenny let him out of the contract late so he could take a WSB deal when it was looking like there be no GP team (Eventually there was). I forget the year but think it was 1996? As in 1997 Kenny went his own way with the Modenas.

Like you Droog, I quite enjoyed seeing JR smash home his first one as he seemed to really enjoying having a bike that wasn't behind the curve. I'd also taken a disliking to Sykes by this point, more so after his crying about various people in 2012 such as Laverty's team orders and Baz. By 2013 he was totally unlikeable and hard to pass off as 'the grinner' anymore and supposedly the Kwak was about as much a road bike as Marquez's. Pass this off as Biaggi fanboy talk but I think once Biaggi, Haga (he'd checked out a bit though) and Checa left, the series suffered. You need italians and the like slapping people in the garage, satellite Ducati teams using karate or walking up pitlane in dressing gowns like Chili. The Brits are dull as dishwater and make Toseland seem like an extrovert. I came across this, written 2 years ago and things have only got worse. www.bikesportnews.com/news/news-detail/david-miller-heroes-and-villains-why-world-superbikes-needs-them

Camier is a character but until he is on a race winning bike, we won't see this in full effect.
Davies, Rea, Lowes, Laverty and Sykes are all either far too polite or worried about team sanctions. There is nothing wrong with that to an extent but it makes for a dull series.
As for the non British riders there are no characters at all. Melandri has lost something since he came back. The two American riders are the most boring on the grid. Series needs a new Scott Russell and some dodgy hot tub shenanigans.

JR has been one of the highest paid riders in the paddock for years, he didn't ride for Honda due to loyalty. He's jokingly called the gayest straight guy in the paddock due to his cheesy take on things, his constant 'my guys' quips are obviously ammunition. He is without question on the best bike in the series, but he's probably the best rider in the series. He had a massive input in who his team mate is next year, and there was a sizeable list of riders. The fact Leon got the job was a surprise to everyone, but with the greatest of respect to Leon the calibre of team mate surprised nobody knowing JR's input. But who could blame him, seeing Leon ride this year I'm wondering if he's made a mistake.

Slightly off-topic but loosely related....MotoGP at Portimao...now that would be good to see! :-) it's a great circuit.
Don't think Dorna are interested though for various reasons...one being financial...and another being the number of GP's already in southern Europe. Shame.

Never looks very well attended though.
