Brno is always a good track to watch racing at, regardless of which race series is running there. Apparently the track used to be called the Masaryk Circuit, named after the first president of the Czechoslovakia. WSB last visited Brno in 2012, where Sykes set pole and Melandri did the double on the factory BMW; 2012 results RACE - 1 1. M Melandri 2. T Sykes 3. L Baz RACE - 2 1. M Melandri 2. T Sykes 3. C Checa www.worldsbk.com/en/event/CZE/2018

The forecast is hot and chance of thundery showers. www.bbc.co.uk/weather/3078610I remember one of the races in the past being wet with a dry line appearing first on the outside of one bend which made for some unusual lines.

R1 - usual stuff WSS - tense buildup of follow the leader and a thrilling last lap. Hope this continues to the end of the year, only a couple of points in it. R2 - great 1-2 for Yamaha, 1st win for Lowes and a long time coming, pleased he held off vd Mark. Sykes a bit lairy a couple of times with Rea and riding into the side of Rea on a re-pass, oh I say. Rea caught by his on bike camera applauding Sykes next time around

I love Brno. Good racing. Watched it all and enjoyed the racing. Lowes got that monkey off of his back at last.

Rea is boring and safe now. Not the young charger, styling it up over Cadwell's mountain but an old man who wants his slippers.
I bet if he had the right manager pushing the right doors, he'd have been able to get a GP on something.

I agree with everyone.
Shame really but his call. I think he's wrong but there you go. Two more years of guess the runner up in WSB.

Why would Rea be interested in going to MotoGP? He is now 31, 18 months younger than Pedrosa who looks set to retire. I doubt Rea would get a decent ride now in MotoGP, too old. His best chance was after he deputised for Stoner in 2012 when still riding for Honda. Although he finished 7th & 8th in those races, up to then his highest placings in WSB 4th and 5th winning 10 races. The Honda wasnt the best bike, but was his results good enough for MotoGP candidate back then? What was on offer from MotoGP after his WSB titles in 2015/2016? Crutchlow is doing ok in MotoGP now but its taken him ages to get where he is.

Because it's Motogp!
20 years ago when WSB had certain something about it maybe two fingers up to GP would have been ok, it was like punk kid of racing. Doohan was ruling the roost and HRC Honda really did have the beating of everyone and satellitte bikes were truly shit and GP was boring.
Now GP has more prestige than it ever has as the collection of elite riders on good bikes is really good. Cal is 35. Rea is 31. Stil worth a shot and he just isn't taking the chance he should be taking IMO. Even if he only lasted a year, it's still a year he gave it a go. Bradley Smith, Sam Lowes and even Michael Laverty took that chance. What's Rea's problem? Chicken McFly.

I think that I've said this before, but IMO Rea is, at the very least, as good as Crutchlow. I see the former as having the same talent as Ben Spies, JR just came into WSB on the wrong bike. That 7th and 8th as a stand in showed what he could have done if the timing had been right for him; plus JR was told to just bring the bike home. Those results, along with the ones he managed on the aging Fireblade in WSB, should have earned him a crack on a satellite RCV. His smooth style would've translated well onto an M1...
... well, that's my twopence worth.

Which satellite Hondas were available in 2013? 2011 Moto2 champ Bradl was rookie of the year on one in 2012, finishing 8th overall. So he continued in 2013. Bautista was on the other, he finished 5th overall in 2012, 6th in 2013. How was he supposed to get a ride on an M1? JT got into MotoGP on an M1 with Tech-3 after he had won the WSB title on a Honda, but when Rea was looking the Tech-3 seats were filled and then later on he was too old. Was his best chance for a Tech-3 ride in 2014, but they signed Moto2 champ PE.

I suppose you can't blame him really, he's securing his family's future...Its a shame nothing came about after he rode the RCV 6 years ago because he did a good job. I think, on the right machinery, he could certainly emulate Crutchlow's results....and probably crash less too ;-)
